About Me

I am loving life at this age, I have been to Nigeria now three times and work with helping bright young students come to the US for college. It has been a wonderful experience and I call most of them My Family, we will always remain close. I lost my husband in 2005 of a massive stroke, he was 57 and just reitred. All that have lost someone know the pain. I had to find something to keep me going and so I got involved with this student program. It is very hard for these young people who are so intelligent and love learning so much to leave Nigeria, it is a long frustrating path but we prevail and we will suceed. My life has changed so much, never did I think I would end up doing something like this. I stay with a family that is very poor when I go to Lagos, we take much for granted here. Their love for me was precious and I wouldn't trade my stay and friendship with them for anything. I hope to go back and work in different programs in the near future. My first student will be here in August and has been accepted in The University Of Wisconsin, I am so proud of him. Other than that I am just a normal person doing home projects, gardening and loving horses and riding, camping and travel of course. My kids are all raised and I feel reborn. Africa is where I hope to be someday soon.

Hello Marylinda,
Just found your message today when I logged-in. Was a little surprised. How are you, and seems that you are a very busy person. I'm not sure of your name, but seems like you must be Mary. Middle name Linda? Anyway, it's a pleasure to greet you today. My name is Ronald.
Nigeria is a large country and a long ... ways away! How did you get involved with African students. All in all your "about me" space was interesting enough to get a response from me.
Well, I wish you well and hope your student who started at Univ. of Wisconsin achieves many acclamations.
