Do you become invisable after 65 ?

Hello out there in the real world.  I`ve decided since I can`t sleep I`ll unload  some of my pet peeves!  { I acually have a large box of them! ]

I`m getting leary of smiling at any one, no one smiles back and they give you that look ......Is she all there?

The checkers in the stores act like their doing you  a favor by taking your money and smashing your eggs!

When you go to the gas station, and your there first, But a brand new shiney sports car drives in with a 25 year old half dressed girl in it, guess who gets noticed first.  Hey! I`m blonde too, [like that makes a difference.]

How  do these people feel when their mothers are treated  rudely?   My favorite is when the wonderful people at social security make a mistake and all the sudden it`s your fault!  " I`m sorry M`am, but I don`t understand what your  trying

to say."  THey say it real loud and real slow like your in your own little slow world !  Then ,it`s your not understanding

what I`m TRYING to say !!!!        No you don`t understand, I`ve earned every one of these  wrinkles,[I`m not crazy about that fact ]  I`m not deaf and last time I checked I had all my marbles !!!So please, what happened too "RESPECT" for those  over 60,  God did`nt say treat them like there invisable and maybe they`ll go away.  He said we are all created equal ! No one stays 20 forever, so think about that.   Gee I feel better !!!!!!!    Good-nite for now.....Lonnie

Hi suesantofan
I appriciate your comments. I know how hard it is to live on the little bit we get from social security. They should call it something besides "security"! LOL!!
I live in a very small town 1100 people. we only have one grocery store and have to drive 80 miles round trip to Dr., drug store,wal-mart or the Vet. with gas at 2.90 a gal. we try to make one trip for all. I still smile at everyone,...it makes them wonder what I`m thinking!!! Have a great day....Lonnie

Hello, Lonnie!
I so appreciate and share your frustrations. I lost everything taking care of my Mom until she died ten years ago. And, now my health is not so good so I retired to an income of 1/3 the poverty level.
Social Security is so broke they will never fix the voice mail, so live with it I was told by some young man at the end of the 800 number. He was very nice and said that he did not appreciate it either.
I live in Davenport, Iowa, and am very pleased to say that I am treated with some respect most often at my grocery store/Pharmacy, K-Mart and our vet. I shop only close to home. Gas is too expensive. We do have lots of nice people in our town.
I have three rescue Shelties, one of whom is rescued from a puppy mill. He is so afraid of life, itself. I do not worry about people who are rude anymore. Find the few who are valuable and pray for the ones who are unkind or disrespectful.
Go ahead and smile at anyone--they will wonder what your secret is! A smile is a random act of kindness.
God Bless
Sue

Oh my goodness I love your journal entry, and I so have to agree, it is really sad that after 60 you seem to disappear to many areas of life. My mother God rest her soul warned me about this but I thought it was just because of her personality but she was so right. And I love the response BJ gives I think I am going to try it the next time I encounter being invisible :)

HI CHUCK SR.,
THANKS FOR YOU`RE COMMENTS. GUESS THERE ARE`NT TO MANY OUT THERE THAT AGREE WITH US, BUT AS I SAW IN THE RESULTS OF THE COFFEE SHOP TOPIC, MOST OF THE PEOPLE HAD JUST TURNED FIFTY OR EARLY FIFTY`S. I HAVE KIDS THAT AGE. GIVE THEM 15 YEARS, IT CHANGES! I DID`NT HAVE A WRINKLE AT FIFTY ! WE ARE REAL SENIORS! LOL !
I STILL FEEL YOUNG AT HEART AND AGE IS JUST A STATE OF MIND. JUST STAY AWAY FROM MIRRORS! LOL !

You are absolutely correct and right on target. It is time that everyone respect those in their "twilight years" Just as Lonnie says about earning her wrinkles she has also earned respect from all of us. I have a lot of respect for Lonnie for just speaking up about what bugs her. I hope you sleep peaecfully from now on Lonnie. By the way I am 68 myself. YOU GO GIRL

Been there. Done that. When I'm in that mood and keep hitting that age discrimination wall, I smile sweetly and tell the offender that my wish for them is that they will live to be very, very old. (They usually don't get it.)

Hi Lonnie. Finally... somebody close to my age. Maybe you live in the wrong part of the world. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where nearly everybody is friendly and helpful. I'm not sure why that is the case. We do get upset when the Chicago snowmobilers invade us. They are the rudest, most self-centered people! (But I expect there are exceptions). I'm not sure how I would deal with the rudeness if I experienced it.
I haven't written anything in my blog since the fiirst time. I've been pretty busy. But I was glad to see yours and wanted to respond. I couldn't sleep. Now, I have to get back to bed.
Good night.
