From Indiana to California
I grew up in the woodlands of Indiana with Parents who tried (successfully) to save wild flowers. We had a small garden plot where we didn't have to disrupt to natural environmenf too much. We harvested blackberries and elderberries along the roadside and apples and sour cherries at an abandoned home site (or else from Johnnie Appleseed).
Then I moved to California which have a completely different climate - a wet season and a dry season, no spring or autumn. Very little land to grow things on. In my front yard I have and enormous elm tree which shades my home and my neighbor's home. It also shades my garden. Finding drought resistant, shade tolerant plants is an intrtrsting quest.
I've managed to eek out 120 Square feet of raised bed gardens in the back yard. I've found John Jeavon's book, How to Grow More Vegetables in Less Spape than you can Imagine, most helpful in making the transition
Interests:
I'm a passionate knitter. I've sold my work, received awards, and had shows. A couple of years ago a car hit me whike I was walking across the street and my kkitting has not been the same (neither has my gardening).
I was a crafts director as a volunteer. The agency fell apart when some of the staff members did things that they were fired for. It was hard for everyone.
Cats. I love cats. I love them so much that I put out humane traps for them, take them for a vet visit, and release them at their homes.
Jam and butter and similar making. Much of it goes to a fund raising event. I don't have much money but I can can some tasty
I`M SO HAPPY OLIVER FOUND A GOOD HOME...WHAT A FACE!!! BLESS YOU FOR CARING FOR HIM. I DON`T THINK I COULD FOSTER KITTEN`S. I`D END UP WITH A HOUSE FULL.
HAPPY DAZE TO YOU......LONNIE
