To authenticate the height of the black bear, I measured from standing in his "bear" feet to the portal of the bird feeder (after he left of course). Normally, I take down my bird feeders in the spring but was a little late this year. Duane/OF

Kit, I share at least two of your interests and the other with reservations. I willingly accept your quest for internet innovation, but don't leave the old farts behind or worse exclude them. If Beta is for all in the AARP community, please accommodate us, but not to the exclusion of others. Most pictures I see on the site are "young 'uns." No problem, my children and grandchildren are "young 'uns."

I have faced a 6'4" black bear weighing (est.) 400 pounds or more not more than twenty feet, nose tip to nose tip within the past year. Fortunately, we were separated by my kitchen window as he was ravaging my bird feeders last spring.

I had the same sense of excitement but also foreboding as I perused Beta the past two weeks. Some of this was due to being an old fart computer lite. There are many other old farts who may be more comfortable and skilled than I am.

I applaud the efforts of Amy, Jee, et al, but I believe Beta requires some change for ALL.

Duane, aka OF on this board.
