Good morning, I really enjoyed your "wordy" message (hehe). However, I was very sad to hear about your parents. My Daddy passed away in 2005. He was my "HERO" !! Although he didn't understand what was happening to me ( Bi-Polar), he was always there to listen when I needed to vent or a shoulder to cry on. I miss him everyday.
Yeah, I know how much colder it is in the Mountains than it is in Denver!! I remember my first trip out there. We got off the plane in Denver ( not that cold), picked up a Rental & headed West. As we were driving along, I could just tell it was getting colder by the outside windows. We stopped; I got out and WOW !!! Was it a big difference!! We usually stay at the Holiday Inn in Frisco.. The view from there is Awesome !!
Back in 1993; my brother and I were talking ( it was about 5pm) and I said, "Let's go to Colorado".. We were both "laid-off" at the time so by 6:30pm, we were on the road ( I was off my Meds at the time so everything is impulsive with me, haha!). We drove straight through; 23 hours !!! I drove all the way through the western side of Nebraska. But by daylight, we were bitting each other's heads off !! LOL !! We stopped in every State to get gas, COFFEE & a suvenior... One night we went out for supper and it was in the singlr digits and the wind chill was unbelievable!! When we left the resteraunt & got to the car; our teeth were "chattering" !! We couldn't stop so we both had a "giggle fit" !! We could not stop laughing no matter what!! We tried not looking at each other but that didn't help either. To this very day if we bring up the subject; we "lose it" again... Man, those were some FUN times !!
YEAH, I LOVE snow!! I may be seeing it from a Nursing Home though, LOL !! As far as the Election goes; I don't like either of them. I supported Hillary. Both of these guys scare me to death; especially NOW! When everything was about IRAQ, I wasn't quite as worried. But with our Economy; OMG !!
Bye for now
Gwen
Good morning, Victoria
I just read your message this morning. I was SO excited to see someone who loves to "write" as much as me, :D !! My brother says when I send an email; it's likr writing a novel, LOL! I'm like you; I stay up to date with my emails but hardly ever have time to go to the differant Groups I've joined. It would be great if we could continue getting to know each other my email. My address is GBallard727@aol.com. I'd love to hear from you. It's SO hot here! I hate it here! I'd like nothing better than to live in Colorado!!
I'm on Disability, too. Since 1995 I'll tell you, dealing with Social Security, Medicare, my Drug Plan and NOW; the Nursing Home & Medicaid with my Mother; I'm getting even more "nuts" than I already was!! I'm Bi-Polar and my moods change so quickly I'm afraid to be around people sometimes. That's why almost ALL my friends are Online. I have some really great ones, too.... Email me, I'm really looking forward to chatting on a regular basis & learning about you, your family, your disability and what it's like living in Colorado. I want to move there SO BAD !! I've heard that they Tax your Social Security in Colorado; is that true? I know they don't in Idaho. I'm looking for a place in the Rockies for my brother & I to move when he retires and/or when Mother is gone. When that happens, there's nothing keeping us here.
P.S. I LOVE SNOW & cold weather!!!
Gwen
Hi Gwen, I've been on this site for weeks and have only had a few comments so thanks for writing! Ha, I'm a "wordy" person too so it was nice to get your long email because how do you say something in ten words or less? I guess I need to learn the new "lingo" my children use. It must be hard to have so much on your plate with your own health and then dealing with your Mother too.. Bless you, that you care for her! My own Mom died ten years ago. In fact, today would have been her 74th birthday. My father died when he was only 47 so its not looking good for me as far as longevity goes! HA Actually, I try to take care of myself, but my disability is my spine and depression/anxiety disorder. I had a spinal fusion because my L4 completely disintegrated so I have rods and brackets in my lower back. Very painful, and I had extensive nerve damage that cause my feet to go numb, etc.. sigh its a nightmare but I've been trying to live without complaining all the time because no one really wants to hear that stuff! My other issue is also mental health like yourself, it can really be devastating. Someone who doesn't live like this could never understand that its completely out of our control.. No one CHOOSES to have mental health issues!! Ok, enough about my health for now. Who do you want to see win the Presidential Election? As far as taxing our Social Security, that's true as far as State tax goes. We have a high tax bracket here and it is included as TOTAL income for my husband and I. However; if you only live on Social Security your taxes would be very minimal! Its very expensive to live here in Colorado compared to Alabama especially if you're not a professional or wealthy! If you and your brother are going to "join forces" and share housing that would help you. I had to laugh when you said you love snow and cold weather! Try it for nine months a year! Its beautiful though and Denver is warmer than here in Georgetown. Thanks for writing. Have a great day!
I live in Alabama but have taken several vacations to Colorado; Summit County in particular. I've been to Georgetown; it's a very beautiful city. I would love to move to Colorado but I can't as long as my Mother is living. My brother & I have to take care of her. She's 83 and has been in the Nursing Home since April of '08. I just joined the Community tonight so I'd love to have you as a "friend". Gwen
