My wife saw the Beatles in 64 at Cobo, I was just a poor boy and my parents would not let me spend money on that R & R trash. So of course I spent my time and money listening to the radio "CKLW" and buying albums whenever I could. The first concert I was able to go to was Chubby Checker in I think 66 or 67 at McMorran Areana in Port Huron, my home town
Hey Kevin
thanks for sharing the pic and the concert memories.. I was just telling somebody that the only regrets I have musically are the concerts and shows I stupidly let go by, but I did see a few : )
Thanks Diane
One of my regrets was not seeing the Stones when they were in town. But I saw many good concerts at Cobo including Bob's concert in 1975, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors and many more. There were some great venues in the Detroit area. I saw Bob Seger & the Last Heard at the Harper Woods Hideout in 1968 along with many other local bands like SRC, Amboy Dukes, etc. It was a great era and I reflect on it alot
Wow! Talk about memories! The first R & R concert I ever saw( not counting Bob Seger & the Last Heard at my Junior High), was the Rolling Stones at Cobo. On the bill were the Standells and the McCoys. Still one of my highlights and a true revelation.
