About Me

I am a mother of 3 beautiful grown daughters. I have 5 grkids who I love dearly. I have 3 dogs which is alot of company. I use to have my own child daycare until I became disabled. My mom passed away May 2004, my daughter Dec. 2004 and my husband Feb. 2005. I am having a hard time dealing through all this.

Interests:
I enjoy fishing, camping, traveling, walking my dogs. I love to watch my grkids play sports especially softball. I love to laugh and make others laugh. Doing geneology is so interesting and sometimes you can be so surprised about some of your ancestors. I enjoy going to powwows and dancing and seeing all the beautiful reggalias. I like seeing all the canoes go on their canoe journeys. I love old cars -- mainly 50's and before. My favorite is the 1964 Chevy Impala, 2 door. I've owned 2.

MY MOM IS A SURVIVOR
Here is my favorite poem

MY MOM IS A SURVIVOR

My mom is a survivor
or so I've heard it said.
But I can hear her crying at night
when all others are in bed.
I watch her lay awake at night
and go to hold her hand.
She doesn't know I'm with her
to help her understand.
But like the sands on the beach
that never wash away...
I watch over my surviving mom,
who thinks of me each day.
She wears a smile for others...
a smile of disguise!
But through Heaven's door I see
tears flowing from her eyes.
My mom tries to cope with death
to keep my memory alive.
But anyone who knows her knows
it is her way to survive.
As I watch over my surviving mom
through Heavens open door...
I try to tell her that angels
protect me forever more.
I know that doesn't help her...
or ease the burden she bears
So if you get a chance go visit her...
and show her that you care.
For no matter what she says...
no matter what she feels,
My surviving mom has a broken heart
that time won't ever heal.

Karen, continuing our conversation from the Message Center, I noticed you are interested in genealogy and powwows. While my branch of the family is not Native American, the first with my family name journeyed to Wisconsin in the late 1700''s and married the daughter of a Menominee Indian princess who bore him a son. a famous figure in Wisconsin history. Three descendants of that union, known then as half breeds, fought in the Civil war for the Union. My paternal grandfather of the same name, but of a different branch, immigrated from Quebec in the late 1800's and settled in the upper peninsula of Michigan and later moved to Wisconsin. At present I live in the heart of HoChunk territory. I would be interested in your heritage. Duane(OF)
