I reapplied for a annual costs of auto insurance through Hartford. In
my initial application the lady online wanted to know who I was
insuranced with. I told her that should have NO bearing on Hartford's
assessment of my auto insurance. Then she told me I had to sign
permission for Hartford to access my California DMV records. I told
her that had no bearing either since I was asking for a bid and the
actual insurance. She told me without my present carrier and a DMV
report Hartford could not make their assessment availabe to me.
When I reapplied I gave all phoney information. I gave my actual name
and zip code because AARP cross checks names and zip codes with their
data base. A data base I believe Hartford also has access to also. The
cost of Hartford auto insurance was $212 more than my present carrier.
Same coverage options. I did not think the amount was going to be so
large. A couple of dollars, but not $212.
I decided I needed to check other AARP sponsered insurance deals.
AARP advertizes supplemental health insurance through United Health
Care Insurance located in Hartford, CN. Google UHCI and you will find
a lot of distrubing information. Items like heavy handed lobbying of
the Senate and House against the Federal Health Plan yet AARP claime
they favor the Obama Health Plan. Studies that indicated UHCI cutting
off members, denying benefits and refusing to pay for life threating
care. Eighty-two percent of surveyed UHCI customers stated they were
either unsatisified or very unsatified with UCHI. Real people with
experience with medical coverage by UHCI. (freeadvice.com)
Take the time to investigate any AARP offer. AARP will not give any
information about any monetary benefits they derive for AARP members
signing up for Hartford insurances. My guess would be AARP members
would be appalled. The reason AARP contracts with Hartford is money.......................
