Have you ever thought about why dogs eat weird things? With two dogs, I have the dreary task of being on poop patrol more frequently than I’d like.  While on my "search and destroy all poop missions" I have noticed such interesting items among the droppings.  There is the usual stuff like rocks, grass, hair, bones and small sticks.  But what really blows my mind is the weird stuff!  I’ve found foam (one of them ate his bed within a 1 hour period with no supervision).  I’ve found walnuts (whole and halves) in abundance.  Pieces of coal, carrots, nuts, eggshells, gourds, rugs, blankets, cat toys (especially the play mice), beans, bird seed of all types, plastic lids, trash bags, aluminum foil, baggies, and some things I have yet to discover what it was!

One of my beloved dogs (Booker which is not the dog in the picture) decided one day, while I was at work, to shred and eat my bills for that month which were very neatly stacked by the fireplace ready to be paid and mailed.  I came home to wall to wall shredded bills.  It looked like a shredder had blown up in the livingroom.  I decided to take pictures of the mess and post them at work.  Maybe I could rent Booker out as a paper shredder or he could be a real live excuse for some kid who really wants a dog to eat his homework.  I don’t think the companies I called concerning the incident really believed me when I tried to explain that the dog ate their bill so it may be a bit late for that month.

The same dog, (bless his little heart!) decided to eat half of my bathroom floor and part of the wall on another occasion.  I  didn’t see the humor in his choice for a snack that day.  Needless to say, I have yet to understand why dogs eat the things they do.  I think the worse thing that they eat however, are cat cookies, or cat nuggets. Gee, I wonder what favor those little smelly things are?  Do they taste like chicken?
