Hi Diane: While responding to your R-r stuff just now I suddenly remembered that you had written to me way back on June 12. I was just wondering if anyone else (besides me) in this group is into the Grateful Dead and the whole jam band scene which I find incredibly beautiful? Love, Ilene

Hi
I am sure that there are others out there. There were millions of people my age who loved the rock gods of the 60's and then a whole separate group for the the Dead as you know! I am anxiously waiting to read all your stories : )

Ilene, I never had the chance to become a deadhead, I think I was born to late, and how many baby boomers can say that? I really miss the music I grew up listening to, folk songs, my mom's rock n roll, the Beach Boys, the one hit wonders that were always hitting number one, and then disappearing. In my teens I was a Donny Osmond freak while my parents were listening to Black Sabbath and Tubular Bells. While making out in a car I discovered the Moody Blues. They spoke to me. John Denver replaced my folk music I had been missing, then there was Jim Croce. Oh, can anyone sing and tell a story like he could, today? And Harry Chapin was taken to soon. In my mind his signature song is not "Cat's in the Cradle", but "Circle"

Thank you for sharing your Greatful Dead memories, I really wish I had been old enough to be a hippie. I think I would have been a good one. Maybe it's enough I have the soul of one?

Hi Debro:I'm so glad you responded to me. You write so well, and with such imagination, I hardly know where to begin. firstly: Being a Deadhead is a state of mind. You are a deadhead I can tell by what you say! You know, the Grateful Dead are (I can never use the past tense) a very spiritual band. Deeply concerned about humanity, Jerry Garcia dedicated much of his music and also his art work to wonderful causes. In fact, this will interest you: Several months ago the remaining members of the Grateful Dead sponsored a concert in San Francisco and raised a ton of money for Barack's campaign!
