Today we took a road trip, not far, about a two hour drive from home, the morning that started out cool and cloudy; turned into a beautiful sunny day.
I took my camera with me because I was hoping to find a barn to photograph....Sure enough we came upon this lovely old barn by the side of a gravel road, next to an old farm house. Since there was no way to get a good shot from the road, we had to drive up and park the car in front of the house.
I was out of the car in no time, taking shots as I walked, in order to get a complete view of the barn, I had to walk through knee high grass,...in my sandals! But it was worth it, I got some good shots.
Further down the road we found some beautiful wheat fields, golden in the sun, with the green of the trees and the maginificent blue sky, with huge fluffy white clouds, it was a sight to take your breath away, And I thought to myself, "This is God's Country !".
In this part of Illinois there are gently rolling hills and scenic vistas that go on for miles....The whole day was filled with blue skies and awesome white clouds that followed us all the way home....These same clouds turned darker as we drove home, and the first large raindrops fell just as we pulled into the driveway, but they did not dampen my memories of our sunny road trip.
