I've been invited to a 52nd class renunion.  I had myself all talked into going then I remembered why I didn't go two years ago.  High School was not a good experience for me.  The school was very "social" and I was in the nerd class.

Also, three years ago I had back surgery and it was not a success.  I walk with a walker and always will.  I'm not familiar with the restaurent they have chosen and don't know how it will work with my walker.

The people I would like to see again don't come to the homecomings or are dead.  I have two friends from school and they are too busy to be very friendly to me.  What would you do?

i went to my reunion only once, and that was enough for me----recently, a friend of mine passed away-saw people from school i hadn't seen in years, i've never seen nor heard such rudeness in my life, and here we're at a wake---i'll give you just ONE thing that happened, i told these 3 classmates of mine, it's great seeing you all--i said what's been going on??? one says, not much, but it looks like you've been doing plastic surgery, i said no, i've had brain aneurysm surgery, they had to take my face down, and i think they did a pretty good job putting it back on---well, i kept my cool while their mouths got off the floor---then i said for its and grins--we all should go to lunch sometimes, and the rudest one said, we only let certain people in our group, and i said, well, give me the questionaire form, and see if i make the criteria---i walked away---now this happened about 8 months ago--i guess no matter how old you get some things never change! i thank you

I can sympathize with your feelings. I debated about going to my 40th a few years back, because I was not part of the "in" crowd in High School either. I ended up going and having a pretty good time. None of my close friends from High School were there, but all those who never talked to me in school came up and said "Hi" and got caught up on what we had been doing.
I had total knee replacement on both knees in '04. The first one the last day of September, and the second on December 12. I used a walker whenever I went out up until the ice and snow were gone at the end of March. I ate in restaurants various times, and I found that most were very accomodating to people with walkers. At most of the buffets, a waitress usually offered to carry my plate for me so I could easily go down the line. (If you want to know the truth, I kind of enjoyed the extra attention!)
Go determined to have a good time no matter what, and you will, even if it is just the good meal. If you go believing that you will have a rotten time, you probably will. It's up to you

You need to go. Everyone else got old too and will be glad tosee you. Maybe you will meet someone who lives close and renew a froendship. Go to your local senior center and find activities. Lots of seniors are walking with walkers
