I lost Bear at the begining of this month. I'm crying as I write this. I found him up in Washington state. It was Winter. Someone had dropped him off at the soccer field 3 doors down from where I lived. The kids across the street rescued him from a neighbor who was throwing rocks at him to get him out of his yard. They couldn't keep him and I needed another dog like I needed a hole in the head. I had Murphy who is greyhound and shepherd. He was so dirty and muddy as only an all white puppy could be.  Once he got clean he was this ball of white fur with huge paws-thence his name Bear. He looked like a polar bear. Within a week I knew why he was abandoned. Some one just didn't have the patience for him. If he could dig he dug. If he could get his mouth on something  he ate it. If he got out he was gone-checking out the neighborhood. My dogs have/had gone with me from Washington to Ca to Mississippi to Ca to missouri to California to here in Iowa. Up until this last month because he scared people he had to be tied up or they had to be left outside depending on who I was living with. We moved back here to Iowa from Ca and I found this farm house. He was is 7th heaven I could let him out and he would roam all over and then come back to be let in the house. He had a good last month the way he should have. Apparently he was chasing something and got hit by a car over 1/4 of a mile from the house. My neighbors found him and buried him for me. I still have Murphy but he mises Bear too.
