The Cookie Monster visited me this morning...he comes
around and nags me whenever I run out of something sweet to eat and,
since I finally finished that "not-so-good" apple cream
cheese crisp thingy I tried out, I figured he'd be making an
appearance pretty soon.
Was just sitting
at good ole puter minding my own business, sipping coffee and
answering mail, when he began .... usually starts with just a
whisper in the ear..."I Want Cookies.."and usually I
can ignore it...put it off...procrastinate till I'm in the
mood...gotta be in the mood to cook...but not today.
Only took him
about 20 minutes to send me scurrying to the kitchen to begin
throwing flour, sugar, eggs, etc into a bowl and letting my
trusty lil Sunbeam mixer do the job for me. Those are the best
darned little mixers...had one given to me as a wedding present that
lasted over 20 years! Don't make 'em like that anymore!
Cookie sheets
greased, blobs of dough arranged a dozen to a sheet, oven fired up
to 375...all set and 1st batch in,....I returned to puter and 20
minutes later...kitchen was full of smoke and 1st batch burned to
black hockey pucks!
Fussing &
fuming, I sprinted about the kitchen flapping a towel like mad
shooing the smoke out the kitchen door while the cats fled in all
directions away from the crazy lady beating the air with a dish
towel.
Alright!
Let's try again....Ha....Use that timer with the ding **** on
it....it sets out on the counter all the time and I always forget to
use the darned thing.
Was a breeze from
there on in till 3 dozen were cooling on the racks and I could turn
the oven off and clean up my mess. Forgot to tell you I
sneezed in the middle of measuring out the oatmeal and blew it all
over the counter and floor.... at least it wasn't the flour...trust
me...oatmeal is a trifle heavier than flour and doesn't travel in
the air as far as flour will!
Picked up the
cookie sheet without a hot mitt and burned my fingers which made me
drop it into the dish pan full of soapy water...splashed it all over
the counter where it mixed nicely with the oatmeal already
there....figured if I kept on, I'd eventually have
another batch of dough mixing itself up on the kitchen counter...
Kitchen finally
cleaned up ...smoke cleared out ... I ate a cookie...[ not bad if I
do say myself]...and asked the monster if he was satisfied
now? He was nowhere to be found...think he fled with the cats
during the towel flapping.
Hope you have good
luck with whatever you attempt to do today.
Hugs , Gayle,
critters and the monster
