Community Exchange
Community Exchange is your space for sharing with others what makes your community the place where you can see yourself living out your life to the fullest. Go on! Brag a bit about why living where you live means you live in a home you can afford, where there are nearby services like hospitals, shopping malls, and where there is good access to places to work and play! And, to top it off, tell us about all the different transportatin options you have to get to these places---like the good public transportation, the available sidewalks/walking paths that you allow you to get around when driving a car is not an option, or the great street signs and good road designs in your neighborhood that make it really nice when you do choose to drive!

Ok, so maybe you don't have all this, so what can you do about it? You can make a difference! And, Community Exchange will even give you some examples of how you can take action to make your community THE community where YOU can live out you life to the fullest!

If you are able to be on your phone and the internet at the same time, have good phone skills and a tiny bit of computer savy, then it doesn't matter what age you are, you can make money from your home.

I am the primary caregive for my 84 year old mother, and her disabled 71 year old sister.  I have seen so many elderly people get to a point in their life when they should be at home enjoying their retirment years, but instead taking jobs as greeters, or cashiers, standing for long hours with little compensation.

I'm not saying that this is a bad thing, especially if people just enjoy being out in public and interacting with people.  But for the people who have to bring in an extra income just to exist, I want to make an alternate suggestion.

In addition to caring for my darling mother and her sweet sister, I also have two special needs children ages 9 and 12.  In addition to that I do foster care for the state.  I am a very busy wife and mother and I like it that way.  I'm glad I don't have to punch a clock somewhere and trade dollars for hours.  I did, however, need to be a breadwinner in order for my husband and I to have enough money to pay our bills.

Using the above mentioned skills, I now own my own internet business.  I do my own advertising, I have my own website, that was made for me (I don't have to be a guru - thank God!)  I choose when I work and and when I spend time with the people who need me most.  I don't sell, keep inventory, have parties, or throw lots of money at products that I will never use.  And, my husband and my children are right there at my side the whole time.

I am not saying this is the perfect thing for you, because I'm not you.  But I am saying, it's worth looking into because it might be just what you are looking for.

I'm not going to throw my website out there and make this some kind of impersonal spam, because it's not.  This is  a real solution to a real problem and if you are interested, I'm sure you can make a comment to this topic in the forum and somehow get a message to me to provide you with more information.  Until then, good luck in all your endeavors and please slow down and enjoy your much deserved time together.

Many hugs,

susan gardner
