Late Life Divorce
I've added the "late life Divorce" group because I haven't found another like it on the AARP offerings. This is a chance to talk about the trials and tribulations surrounding the problem of late-life divorce

Halloween Memories!  It's fun to play them back in our minds, isn't it?

I remember using burnt corks to darken our faces to make us look like dirty bums.  Some old clothes and shoes, and an old pillow case (to carry the loads of candy), and we were off.  I don't remember it ever being too cold to keep us from spending hours knocking on doors and collecting our loot.

In a group, we traveled throughout the entire neighborhood and the ones next to it.  No fears then.

Nowadays, parents spend big money on commercial outfits, have to inspect each piece of candy, and have to limit where their children can go trick or treating.   My own grandchildren go to the Mall; it's safer and no concerns about the weather.

I think that our generation was the lucky one!

Thanks for stirring up some great memories!

Hello Halloween Fun Seekers...

Okay, you caught me.  I have been the "Lone Ranger" almost all my Halloween Holiday life... yes, with a side trip to being "Zorro" and my mother made the most wonderful "Clown" outfit... but after those years of changes... I always went back to being "John Reid alas The Lone Ranger".  Hum... anyone guess what I am going as this year, for my grandchildren?  If you guessed an overaged, jolly, sorta-larger than life Lone Ranger... You would be correct.  I think they know that The Lone Ranger doesn't have that funny "hint" of white hair over each ear for a disguise...  Darn...  So it goes.

Happy Halloween... all,

Hurt

What an enjoyable post!  I had the good fortune to live in Anoka, Minnesota, for 16 years.  For the rest of you out there, that is the Halloween Capitol of the world!  It was the first community to host a community-wide celebration designed mostly to stop the Halloween "vandalism" of the youth, but it grew into a week-long celebration that is absolutely wonderful.  Sure, the first year I lived there we had 31 inches of snow on Halloween, but the rest of the time was really a lot of fun.  I have a lot of great memories of my involvement in Anoka's Halloween festivities, and I really do miss it.
