Warning

You may know about these things but there are a lot that don’t.

Mobility scooters and chairs I feel is one of the biggest scams at there.

Ever sense I started my foundation I have found out several things about electric chairs and scooters.

You pay anywhere from 5-10 thousand dollars for one and you may have it for a year and then something goes wrong and guess what you cant find anyone who fixes them.

Why?

Because the parts come from china at least the electrical parts do. And when you try and order the parts to repair yours no one know where to get the parts. So now you have a 5-10 thousand dollar paper weight. They may have a warranty but that’s up before your mobility unit breaks down. I have even tried to open up a repair shop here in Salt Lake but the manufactures won’t work with you.

What you buy is all show the control box that is the brains to your mobility unit is what goes bad and its $500 to have that replaced. So before you buy one go online and scope it out first. I haven’t found one that will run for more than a year.

Why?

Because the control box, is under rated. The person may weigh 250 lbs and the unit may say it’s rated at 300 lbs and the frame may hold you but it to much on the control box and they burn out. Most are rated at 500 watts but should be 800 – 1000 watts. The control boxes are used in the same unites that the kids ride around on there 2 wheeled scooters. And they burn out on them as well.

So if you’re in the market for a mobility unit, beware most are not worth what you pay for. If you know of a mobility unite that has worked good for you please let me know and please give me a little information

1.       Age of unite

2.       Weight capacity

3.       Weight of person

4.       Make and model of unit.

This will help me and others that need mobility unites.

Just make sure that you check out their unit with the better bussiness bureal and othere places like that on the net. look at the comments about their product. If you have to pay more to get a good one it will be worth it and I do know that there are a lot places that will give you discounts for some reason or another if not go through AARP.
