Hi Everyone,

What is considered scary at one point in our lives is not scary in another.  As a little Girl I was scared and tried to get under my seat when I saw "Abbott and Costello meets the Wolfman", or "Dracula".

Now, I would probably laugh and enjoy such a movie immensely.  In fact, today if I were a little girl, I would be frightened of the movie "Bride of Chucky".  How times have changed!

What scary movies have you never forgotten?   One such movie was "The Birds", and even today if I see a flock of birds sitting on a wire or pole, I think of that movie and cringe!

Another such movie was "Silence Of The Lambs" with Anthony Hopkins!   WOW that movie scared me as an adult.   Then there was Kathy Bates and James Caan in Misery.  Would you have liked to be her favorite Author?

What about you?  What were scary movies that you never forgot?    Right now there is a movie playing in our theater which I am going to see tonight, and that is "Law Abiding Citizen".  Will this movie become in the future one of those scary movies that I will never forget?

Shelby

Hi Heidi,

You're right "On The Beach" was excellent!  I didn't realize 2010 was a remake.  I am going to see this movie tonight.  In fact we can compare viewpoints on Sunday over Coffee!  ;-))   Shelby

Hi Shelby,

I caught a few minutes of On The Beach on TV & requested it from Netflix.  Its is a wonderful  low key apocalyptic movie made in 1959,  starring Ava Gardner, Gregory Peck, Fred Astaire & Anthony Perkins.   I absolutely loved it.

This movie is in no way outdated. I plan on watching the 2000 remake this weekend

Hi Papa-J,

Thank you for your input.  I didn't see the Omen series of three films!

However I felt that "ROSEMARY'S BABY was really soooo scary, and your right about the people in that movie!   In fact, I would love to see that movie again, and the ending was horrendous!

What did you think of Alfred Hitchcock's movie "THE BIRDS"?   Shelby

Personally, 'Rosemary's baby' and 'Omen III: The final conflict' do it for me.

In Rosemar's baby, the image of a bunch of doting, smiling old people who are so evil is creepy to me.

In Omen, the respectable and adored ambassador with powers we can't imagine, is the stuff isn't so much 'magic' as it is 'possible'.

Hi Butterfly,

I couldn't wait.  After work I rented the film "Children of Men" and  my Date and I watched it when we arrived back at my place.

While the basic premise of the film was good, it was extremely confusing, and there were quite a number of words which were not distinguishable which might have clarified this confusing film

Normally I can understand but not this time!  Clive Owen was okay in the part and Michael Caine with the smaller part was outstanding as usual.

However, I also rented "The Village", and will watch that film within the next few days!   I'll let you know how I liked it.   One thing I do know is that the trailer makes it seem suspenseful and scary, and it was highly recommended!    Shelby

Hi Butterfly,

This movie was just recommended to me.  You might want to rent CHILDREN OF MEN too.

This is a thinking person's Sci-fi scary film, without a massive amount of special effects.

I was told by Member "Baron Von Tollbooth" that it will leave you thinking well after this movie is over!  Watch this suspenseful trailer below.  Shelby

Hi Everyone,

There is a film that opened up this weekend that we plan to see, and it really does look scary.

I'm going to get my Thigh and Knee Pads out, ;-)) for I'm sure my friend will try to grab me.   He does that in the scary parts of movies, and I end up trying to swat him away.    That too is part of my enjoyment of scary movies!

Here is the Trailer for "THE BOX" below.  Have a great Movie Weekend, and if you see this film, let's discuss it over Coffee on Sunday!  :-)) Shelby

I have to agree   The Birds was very  scary   & I also  when I  see a lot of birds lined up  I think of that  movie

I always thought  "Rosemary"s  Baby  was scary    & also "Carrie     that lasy part of the  movie when she was kneeling by the  gravestone  &  a hand  came up & grabbed  her was  wild.

The "Omen  " also I thought was a good  scary type  movie, if not   scary  maybe  suspenseful'
