Hi Everyone,

I saw the Trailer of "LAW ABIDING CITIZEN", and it looked scary good, even if it got mixed reviews from the critics.   Please view trailer below, and once you do, you probably will admit, it looks absolutely intriguing!

As you know one shouldn't go by professional critics unless you trust them completely to be in line with your tastes, because one never knows what they are looking for.

I will always remember "Big, Fat Greek Wedding, and most  everyone loved that movie, but not the Critics.  Most all Seniors loved, "Bucket List", still it too opened to mixed reviews.

I am interested in your opinions especially after seeing this movie, as I had friends who thought it was great!   Shelby

I saw it and loved it. The "gore" is minimal and intrinsic to the plot...not merely for shock value. The greater point of the film, to me, were the questions it raised about our system of law and how it affects us. Foxx' character presented one view and Butler's character, another, and I agreed with one or the other, as well as both during the movie.

The movie throws a lot of red herrings to influence you as you try and 'solve' the mystery ending.

However, I discovered the ending when the characters in the movie did, and everyone else I've spoken to never guessed it either.

The plot is interesting and even though some details are left imperfect, it is a movie worth seeing, in my humble opinion. Gerard Butler does a terrific job. His is the character the movie revolves around and he is up to the task.

Hi Butterfly,

I'm not one for Gore either, but are times when a Movie is well worth watching Gore, as was the case for me watching this film.

This film wasn't just another Gory film, mainly because had a good screen play which made me care, was extremely suspenseful and well acted, which most gory films aren't.

In Post #5 to John, I posted the hyperlink to Jackie K. Cooper's review of this movie, because his review is right on target.   I'm posting it again to you below.

Please read Jackie's review thoroughly then you decide for yourself.   One thing is for certain, Gerard Butler was marvelous in this movie, and I wouldn't have wanted to miss his performance, but that's me!   Shelby

Hi John,

A respected Writer and Professional Critic who I really respect is "JACKIE K. COOPER" who used to post in my Movie Discussion on this website years ago.

Jackie also maintained his own Movie Discussion on the AARP Discussion Boards, and I found that most of Jackie's reviews were right online with my thinking and the opposite with my local newspaper critic.

In fact, here is a hyperlink to Jackie's Review of "A Law Abiding Citizen" on his website and it's really well worth reading in it's entirety and it won't interfere with your enjoyment of this film!  http://www.jackiekcooper.com/MovieReviews/LawAbidingCitizen.htm

HI Astraea,

You would really enjoy this movie, especially since you love Gerard Butler.  He was mind blowingly scary, and the acting and rapport between he and Jamie Foxx was just great.

I had my hands over my ears, and would have liked to have gotten under the seat if I could have.

I don't want to tell you too much about this movie, or I would spoil it for you and others.  As I just mentioned to John, if you see this film, please let me and others know if you enjoy it?   Shelby

Hi John,

As you know now, I saw "Law Abiding Citizen", and loved it.   It was extremely suspenseful and while Jamie Foxx was very good, Gerard Butler was a real stand out, he was that scary!

In fact I posted where my Gentleman Friend kept trying to grab my thigh and squeeze it, he was so scared,  I had to shoo him away or I would have black and blue.

This is a movie that I would have written about sooner had I known how good it was.

If you like scary movies, this is one of them, but as I mentioned in another post, don't let anyone tell you about it, for it's better if it's a complete surprise!

If you see it, please let me know what you think!   Shelby

I've seen the trailer on television. Law Abiding Citizen looks to be an intriguiging movie. I've long ago stopped using ciritics opinions as a water mark for a good movie. I listen to people who have seen the movie, or if I like the looks of a movie, I go see it anyway
