Hi Everyone and Welcome,

Are Doctors or Dentists visits getting you down?   Does this scenario sound familiar?  "I just went for a simple Cleaning and Routine Checkup, and they found".  Yes, there was a cavity under my Cap, and this treatment and replacement of my Cap which is Molar.  It's going to cost $730 with my Dental insurance.  What would it be without?

Now they want their funds upfront, because of some people who didn't pay before.   Well I've been a patient of this Dentist for years.  Shouldn't there be an element of trust where I can pay this  off in a two or three visits?

No such luck, for the decision remains with the Office Manager, and not the Dentist.   Who owns the business, is it the Dentists employee???   Naturally I'm frustrated, and wouldn't you be?   What they believe, if this new policy is good for one, it should be good for all.

What situations have you run into which are sources of frustration with Dentists and Doctors in terms of Medical Treatments or Costs??   Shelby

HI Astraea,

Not to worry, it just isn't that important.  I just caught up with my posts, because as you know I work 40 hours a week.

Then if I'm away from my computer for even three or four days, I can have over one hundred messages within my message center.

So, if I'm late with any reply, I'm sure anyone who is likes me would understand.  Shelby

I almost wish the website prevented responses to posts that were more than 2 months old! I don't remember the context of this entire discussion, and with getting ready for Election Day tomorrow, I just don't have the time to re-read the whole Topic now.

Hi Astraea,

Why not?   As far as Canadians coming to Florida, we are grateful for their business.  They love Florida because of our warm climate.

I know in Ottawa, Ontario where my dear Friends live, the weather is terribly cold in the winter, with extremely heavy snow storms, where travel is difficult.

In fact, it can be even dangerous when traveling for there might be black ice on the highways, so there is little wonder why they come here.  Yet Ottawa is a beautiful City, and is delightful in the warmer weather, when I visit there!

In terms of dentistry, your Dental Insurance was certainly well worth having, and as you know I have the same.  However, for those who don't have dental insurance, the Dentists Bills can be prohibitive.

While you and I can afford Dental Insurance, there are many others who can't afford it, and have to go around with teeth missing because they can't.   It's similar with Medical Insurance and people put off needed care!   Shelby

So what do they like about our Country? So they come here for the benefits they can get here, but then officially live in Canada for the benefits there too?!

I was just rereading your last post, and I got good news too, when I went to the dentist last week. I'd previously gotten a statement for the remaining half of cost of my new bridge ($4K+), but since the office is only open a few days a week, I didn't get there to pay it .. and knew I was going there anyway last Friday. Well Thursday I got a statement from my dental insurance; although I'm above my limit for the year & they're not paying anything, they still determine how much the procedure is worth, since my dentist is part of their network! They determined the bridgework should cost significantly less than the dentist billed me! When I got there, I was afraid there would be an argument, but they'd already entered the insurance company's allowance, and I only owed them about $1,300!

Hi Astraea,

The World Health Organization ranks us quite low in terms of Health Care, while other countries which have Government Health Plans fair much better. Take a look below!

While no system is perfect, I also know couples from Canada who love our Country, but wouldn't want to live here, because they wouldn't want to trade their health plan for ours!   Shelby

HI Astrea,

Please read my last post to Retired Traveler, for I did get good news in terms of cost and care!

Astraea, I have to get some sleep now, and I've been posting since I came home from work!, and it's now 2:54 AM.  Would you say I'm addicted, or I just want to take care of most of my messages before this night is ended.

Astraea, its' not going to happen, for I'm behind once again, another sourse of minor frustration!   Enjoy the rest of the week, and we'll talk again soon!   Shelby

Hi Retired Traveler,

Thank you for your post, and I do understand your clarification!   Now, I had a happy surprise today, for my Dental Costs were less than I thought.  My Total Bill came to $625, instead of the amount I had originally posted.

Then their Dental Clinic Supervisor surprised me by changing her mind, and telling me that I could pay my bill in two portions.  However, because my cost was less, I decided to pay the total amount upfront.  All were happy!

While you feel that good will doesn't pay the bills, and your right, but understanding does go a long way!   Shelby

What's that expression you see posted near some cash registers .. "In God we Trust .. everyone else pays promptly!"
