I am particularly moved, as a career coach, by the number of highly educated and financially vulnerable mid-career professionals out of work for over a year. These people still have mortgages and college-age children for whom they are responsible. These hard-working folks had anticipated continued success and independence; instead they are struggling, uncertain as to their futures, and are most often ineligible for any community-based services because of their status and some savings.

I have a new and very small Small Business, I am 55, single and instead of this being a great time for us really small Entrepreneurs, I just feel like an entre`. I make too much, $12.00 an hour for 22 hours a week and paid once a month,  to collect SSI and SS anymore, no longer get that $16.00 in food assist, have to beg for medical help when I can't ignore the problem anymore, forget a dentist, and I work a hard PT job nights on Post. I took the job out of need Hoping to return to making my own business a success, yet now I am stuck and can't drop it even though I physically suffering. How is it in a country that everyone wants to come to, those that are working their hearts out and lives away scrubbing other peoples toilets, are having to wash clothes in the tub and eat out of the very trash can they are changing the bag for? I hold my head high because I KNOW I am doing everything I am able regardless of systems and a so called helping business owner that uses struggling Small Business owners like me and the great struggling everyday co-workers I work side by side with. Maybe in the end I will lose my Dream, but it won't be from me whining and sitting on my duff. Like my fellow workers, I don't ask for hand-outs, we just go one in silence. What choice has been given to us? We are the first to feel the cuts and lose what little hold we had with the last Leaders. And before you think you know me and see me from this country or that, I was Born here, and the people I work beside are from 'out of towners' and legal, and they have been more help to me than my own Country/men. I'm tired. I just want to make my little company something I can pass on it on and in the mean time not have to eat other peoples trash. God bless America? How about someone blessing the front line people in it first? I don't want anymore words of Promise. I want to see My Country's ACTIONS help me and others like me. Give me a reason to be Proud of it. Our soldiers I am PROUD of and it is them I serve on Post, but I don't have much reason to be proud of the place they defend. I see too many of them 'eating out' like me too. And by the way, I AM one of those highly educated.

I do not believe that I am wrong.  I do believe that you are entitled to your opinion.

While you do have a point as to the qualified out of work Americans I believe you are wrong on the rest of your thought above.

Yes, Costumer Service calls are been answered from far away places taking jobs from Americans, and yes again SOME of the monies we spend buying products do go oversea to some other countries. However the idea is NOT to eliminate the middle class.

Companies, big and small, in US work for PROFITS and they are ALWAYS looking how to lower their cost. If a service can be obtain overseas at a lover price . . . they will go there. If you were running a company you would do the same.

Now, blame the government for all their taxes and regulations that force many companies, primarily big ones to move overseas or keep overseas profits away from out tax people. Our beloved President is coming out with new taxes that will force many companies out of business if they are approve. Have you notice that Washington is famous for bringing new “services or programs” but never cut any useless services or programs? This goes for Democrats as well as Republicans.

When Americans calls for service on their laptop, vehicle, or most products, the phone is answered in the Caribbean, Pune, or some far away place overseas.

While well educated, professional Americans initially purchased products.  The money is not invested back into the American economy.  After first lining the pockets of the ultra rich, the money moves on to keep foreign communities afload while while middle America drowns.

Yes, experienced, well educated people are unemployed.  The idea is to eradicate the middle class, right?  The plan seems to be on target.
