Halloween means that there will be more children (and adults) out on the streets.  Follow these safety tips to keep you and other pedestrians safe on the road!

  • Drive well below the posted speed limit in residential areas.
  • Stay alert! Never assume that children will see your vehicle and stop.
  • If a vehicle is stopped in front of you, do not pass. Trick or treaters may be crossing the street in front of them, or the vehicle could be dropping off children.
  • Be extra alert when pulling in and out of driveways.
  • Pay attention to what's happening on sidewalks and roadways. Watch for children darting across streets, especially between parked cars.
  • Make sure all lights on your vehicle work so children and parents can see you.
  • f you're driving a group of children, but staying in the running vehicle at the curb, be sure to put on your hazard lights to alert other motorists
  • Don't use a cell phone while driving through neighborhoods.  Distractions can be deadly.
