Has anybody out there ever have a whatever-its-called pre-cancerous growth removed?  All those years of basking in the sun, with no sunscreen - had taken its toll.  A couple of weeks ago I began to notice a wee spot grow into a bump.  Two days ago the Doctor zapped it and now its reeeely noticeable.  Nice red spot and its ON MY NOSE.  Kinda hard to cover.  Not so bad during daytime, thanks to sunglasses and a hat, but I dare not go out at night.  Although, last night being Halloween, and wearing a costume, no one took notice, either that or they were being polite by not saying....'hey,whats that on your nose...' egads

Hello EmeraldQueen,

I don't like baseball caps either or any hat for that matter.  I have long thick hair that looks weird with a hat.  When I was in the military and had to wear a hat, it was alright because my hair had to be up.  It looked as professional as it could with the uniform.

I finally settled on the open top golf cap.  They kind of have a headband to keep them on.  They don't look bad with my hair and aren't so heavy on my head.  Those kinds of hats actually work well to keep my hair out of the way when it's hot.  That's my compromise to keep the rays off my face and nose.

Sendiing you love and light...

Sharon

Subject: Skin cancer

I do not think older ladies should wear baseball caps and retired all mine a few years back.

However, I started wearing a baseball cap again this past summer because nothing else as effectively protects the nose from sun.   I had met a lady who did have a large growth on her nose from the sun, but said it was not cancer.

Also,  on the side of my face darkened pigment occurs  year after year, but fades every winter.

Hello Cin170,

My step-mom has had a few growths removed from her face and claims no big deal.  You can't even see where they were done anymore.  She wears a hat and sunscreen religiously now to keep from getting more.

As a side note, I started taking Lycopene because of a study done where it showed people don't burn as much when taking it.  Even with sunscreen I will fry if I stay out too long, so I get the highest SPF and keep applying it if I have to be in the sun.  The spray works best for me.

I have memories of a Mardi Gras not so long ago where I had blisters under my eyes from burning.  I've never seen such a thing before.  It was awful and people kept asking if I was alright on my drive home because it looked so bad.  Hasn't happened since I started taking Lycopene.

Sending you healing light...

Sharon

I have never had any, but a family member has had quite a few. He has had them removed, as they appear and  has had very good luck having them heal. Wish you the best. Cindy
