Folklore and Tall Tales
Most of us have community stories and tall tales that we share around a campfire or a candle lit stormy night. Early settlers to America had little means of communication with others outside their immdediate area, and most had little education. So, folklore and superstition took the place of 24X7 news stories. Some of those stories are fascinating, some are funny and some are scary. One legacy of seniors is memory of the stories. This is a place to share them with fun and respect for those who thrived in hardships with the best information available to them.

Hi and thanks to you all for your kind remarks and prayers.

Dee is my dad and I am Jonell (Jo – Nail) I am stepping in for my mom so that she can be with my dad.  She left some instructions for me and I hope I get them right.

My mom has to be at work for most of the day because she is the one in charge. Then she spends time with my dad. So I was asked to take care of his dog. Sally is so easy to take care of because she is so well trained plus she knows me and my husband.

It looks like I am going to be living back home for a short while and mind the phones and the internet. It there is something new to report I will post them and if I do something wrong pleas let me know.

Now for the update to day dad has opened his eyes a few times but there is nothing there. The doctor says that is common and that also means that he is fighting.

The teen that hit my dad was under age on 2 accounts 1. Driving 2. Drinking. But the worst is that this isn’t the first time for this teen. The teen had 2 friends with him one was killed the other may not walk again. But the teen walked away with a broken finger.

My dad has 3 broken ribs a broken thigh and ankle. He also has several stitches in his head face and arm. While I was up with my dad today a nurse walked in and asked what nursing home where we planning to put him in.

I don’t think we are planning on putting him anywhere but home.

If you all would like I will look through his tons of stories and see if there are any that hasn’t been posted.

I have a next door woman that is with AARP and she told my mom how to post things. She wrote them down and I hope its all there.

Jonell

PS a note I found from my dad says "my friends at AARP like it better if I use big print" I hope this is ok.

Jonell, thank you so much for updating us on Dee's condition.

This is so tragic, it just breaks my heart. So much pain and suffering for so many people.

If there is any way I can help you with posting Dee's stories, please contact me. The big print you used is perfect.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
