Is this another sign of misguided policy advice by the Presidents advisors?

Obama on Ft.Hood -- Not Even 'Shocked'

While President Obama called the murders at Ft. Hood  "horrible" and a "tragedy" and urged "prayers," the response seemed understated compared to the other incidents.

How a president responds to a crisis defines him. President Obama has shown how upset he was after the murder of abortion Dr. George Tiller and after the attack on the HolocaustMuseum. But when it came to the Ft.Hood shootings, the president twice gave the incident a limited response ...devoting little more than 4 minutes over two separate appearances to the 13 dead and 30 wounded.

In the Tiller case, the president was "shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning." In the case of the museum attack, Obama was "shocked and saddened by today's shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum."

But when it came to the horrendous Ft.Hood shootings, the term "shocked" was nowhere to be found. Instead, the initial response was shoehorned into comments he made opening the White House Tribal Nations Conference. First there were a couple applause lines to Native Americans and Obama's "shout out to that Congressional Medal of Honor winner," who appears not to have won the medal. (Joe Medicine Crow won the Medal of Freedom -- the nation's highest civilian honor.)

Then the president addressed the shooting. While he called the incident "horrible" and a "tragedy" and urged "prayers," the response seemed understated compared to the other incidents. Then, in true Obama fashion, he did manage to make the shootings at least in part about him. "I want all of you to know that as commander in chief, that there's no greater honor but also no greater responsibility for me than to make sure that the extraordinary men and women in uniform are properly cared for and that their safety and security when they are at home is provided for us."

Two minutes and 39 seconds later he was done and without even taking a breath back to talking about the Native American event. Nowhere in his speech or his remarks the next day did he even acknowledge that the attacker was a Muslim. In his statement after the museum attack, he correctly criticized "anti-Semitism and prejudice" but made no mention of religion in the latest incident.

The Nov. 6 appearance took up just 1 minute 30 seconds and this time it was paired with his remarks on the bad unemployment numbers. In all, he spent 4 minutes 9 seconds to address the attack on 43 Americans ...less than 6 seconds per person.

Gee, very telling to read all the radical lefty’s posts crying about people picking on poor ol' Obama and here they are bashing Bush.  Typical Rules for Radicals tactics; accuse others of what you yourself are actually doing.  Very transparent.

As for Bush, I read where he & Laura quietly went to Ft. Hood.

Since Ft. Hood was not a good photo opt our current commander-in-chief BO went to see Pelosi & pals.

Yeah, I read that, too.  All the reports say it was a "secret" trip. If it was so "secret" how come we all know about it?  And how do we know it happened at all?  because Bush spokesman David Sherzer announced it to the media in an e-mail. LOL

And, by the way, he's no longer President - just a citizen who can come and go without much danger to himself....and surrounded by SS as well.

I don't suppose it occurred to these radical rightwingers that until the authorities investigating are sure this is NOT part of a larger terrorist plot the President of the United States is not safe at Fort Hood?

The radicals on the right are the ones screaming from the rafters that it's a terrorist plot, aren't they?  They contradict themselves as usual by saying the President going to Fort Hood would NOT be a photo op (huh?)....yet they called him going to meet the arriving bodies of the dead troops at 4 AM a photo op....too funny if it wasn't so sad and obvious.

I, for one, am so tired and bored with the constant Obama bashing.  They don't even make any sense but it doesn't stop them does it? What about the topic on here that tried to connect this killer with President Obama....all lies but that doesn't matter to them - they print it and the radicals here reproduce it.

This topic like others is simply more Obama bashing from the radical right.

Put your self in his shoes, Quack.  Think of being told the first two events as they happened.  In fact,  think back to the time you first heard the news,  Imagine sitting there one moment meeting with pre-schoolers, and the next getting the word that a plane crashed into the WTC 1, then a few minutes later the unbelievable hoorifying news that the same thing happened again.

What you say would be understandable except for the "minor detail" that the President was forewarned that Al Qaida was planning an imminent attack on the U.S.(and chose to ignore it) - WE weren't!

I don't doubt his look was more "Uh oh - how do I cover my azz on this one?"

He also was aware that the many governmental agencies were busy analyzing the situation and the official that whispered the news to him also suggested that he carry on for the moment while the situation was evaluated further,

We weren't aware that you were privy to his private conversations.  Further by law, it is only the President who has to authority who can order a full scale retailatory offense in case we are attacked.  Face it, your boy was scared as hell.

"He sat there shocked and frozen for seven long minutes"

He also was aware that the many governmental agencies were busy analyzing the situation and the official that whispered the news to him also suggested that he carry on for the moment while the situation was evaluated further, given that it was a shockingly unprecedented situation for all of us.  But this is apples and oranges.  This has absolutely no bearing on the fact that Obama failed to react for hour to the tragedy, and when he did react he did in such a disrespectful manner (and still hasn’t responded as emotionally ads he did on the Professor Gates affair, etc.).  Sorry but IMHO, Obama has once again proven that he is totally unfit to lead this nation.

"But I was pleased that BHO did not condemn that local cop as acting stupidly when she shot the murdering Muslim."

Me too, but that was probably why his reaction was so belated and so subdued.  He was conflicted.

What did you expect Obama to do?  Drop everything and don sackcloth and ashes?

It's the usual hissy fit looking for a problem. I'm sure the rightwing gutter press is on fire with this Very Important Issue, but from out here in the normal world it doesn't pass the laugh test.
