The biggest hurdle is boredom, so the last few days I've been going down there at 4 PM, when Oprah's on TV! Today I did 2.75 miles, and was debating going further, because the show was so interesting! I walked 12-1/2 miles last week, and am up to 12-3/4 this week .. with another day to go yet!
Doctors say that you need a combination of a healthy diet & exercise, not only to lose weight, but to feel good.
I also have one of those high intensity full-spectrum lights I shine while I'm on the treadmill; they're also supposed to be good for you, and elevate your mood. Can't hurt!
Hi, Astraea
How are you doing with your treadmill?
Losing any weight?
It sure isn't easy, and I give you credit for trying to do that exercise. I have so many physical ailments that I just can't do all the exercising that I should.
But I am slowing losing weight by carefully watching what I eat. What are you doing in that area??
Good luck!!
Jackie
I imagine that on shows like Celebrity Fit Club, they may also get paid for participating .. how much easier could it be?! And then someone of them (Maureen McCormack) gain it all back.
Hi
Sorry, just getting caught up on mail.
I did not receive one really positive response to these shows being helpful. I would have to agree.
Diane
I just got my treadmill reassembled just over a week ago, and that's been enough motivation to start exercising & watching my diet again.
Can you summarize the feedback you got on this Topic, about weight-loss reality shows?
Since I'm at thinking about losing weight more now, than back in January, I would say that while the results are certainly inspiring, it's less motivational when we compare our situations with the people participating on those TV shows. First of all, they're in a "controlled environment," and 100% of the focus is on eating healthy & doing exercise .. that's just not realistic even for retirees. Second, I find the trainers' boot-camp style not for me; if I say I'm exhausted .. I mean it!
I have been watching this season of Biggest Loser. It is really not very realistic and wonder what the contestants do when they get back to reality. Have they ever done a follow-up on all the past players to see of they kept it off? I know the one winner did gain it back. I have also seen Celebrity Fit Club. That one has a lot of drama to it.
I watched one program, realizing I too would get in shape if I had a personal trainer and the TV program made arrangements that didn't cost me anything but time and ambition.
Hi
If you love watching the show then hey that is the whole idea... it is entertaining and if you get a motivational factor out of it even better...
I do like reality shows and watch them I just don't like Ruby ..

one of my problems is the inactivity of winter here ,
