We have started leaving the bathroom door open but we definitely keep the toilet seat top down.  I don't like cats drinking from the toilet.  It seems he was used to drinking from the bathroom sink.  We indulge him and now and then run some water into the bathroom sink for him to drink, even though he has filted fresh water in the kitchen.  He uses both and now doesn't howl at night to get in the bathroom.  As I had said, he is very verbal which most times is cute if it isn't during the middle of the night.  Now that he can visit it whenever he wants, he seems much better.

He sleeps like a baby during the day but is terribly restless still at night.  He still paces from my daughter's bedroom to mine and crawls on me and meows in my ear.  I know that cats are night prowlers.  I think as long as he is allowed to visit us at his will, he will calm down on this.  If not, a few minutes disruption every few hours is worth the price to pay for loving him.  He is the most gentle cat I have ever seen.   He still isn't extremely fond of our other cat Taffy but as long as we treat him like the top cat, he seems to handle it and not growl at Taffy.  Taffy is not nearly as timid as he was and now actually sits on our laps for short periods.  I understand this is good as most Persian cats would rather sit beside you rather than on you.  Taffy sleeps with one of us every night and usually crawls under the covers on one of the beds for a good part of the day.

I don't think he can meow.  He is very seldom verbal and he makes a kind of grunt sound rather than a meow.  He also is precious and we are very happy we have the 2 of them.  I still miss my Lhasa Apso who died this past April at 12 from cancer.  Cats are really nice but I miss the bonding that comes with a dog.

This is a great group.  Glad I joined.  Thanks again.

I love the cats in the sink.  I guess their bodies just fit so nicely that it is popular with them.   I am getting to enjoy my cats more each day.

Thanks, Mamatuck

A lot of cats like to drink out of the sink even though they have fresh water. Some also like the tub and shower curtains after a shower. Our cats will jump up on the toilet to get to the sink, but otherwise ignore the toilet. Just for amusement, here is a site devoted totally to pictures of cats in the sink. People keep adding to it, so there is a LOT of pictures!
