edited on February 4, 2009 11:54 PM ET I thought it might be fun to share what we are currently working on. I'm a typical knitter with too many projects going on at once. I'm working on fingerless gloves for a co-worker, gloves and a sweater (my first) for my DH, a pair of socks for my sister, and a wash cloth (ball band) for my aunties. What's on your needles? juana |

Hello Sally,
Thank you for your message. I will definitely keep trying on the knitting.
I actually knitted a few rows of just the straight stitch this evening. I am always dropping a stitch, but I have a book that gives in detail - how to fix that with a crochet hook.
Knitting is indeed great therapy and that is another reason I am wanting to learn - having something to focus on, in addition to making simple things to give away.
The picture of the cat on your profile is very pretty. I am a cat lover.
Thanks again for your message. If I master how to make a dishcloth, then I will have achieved something that is very important to me.
Sincerely,
Charline
Charline,
Please dont give up! Knitting is a wonderful. Dont worry about sitches being perfect. The more you knit the better you will become. Knitting is a constant learning process. I have been knitting for 44 years and I learn new tricks and tips all the time. Knitting has been a life saver for me and helped me through many tough times in life. I know if you keep at it you will get the hang of it.
Sally
I am a very new knitter, continually trying to learn. I can make a few of the stitches, but I have never been able to make anything. I am still having trouble mastering the stitches to where they look "right".
Sometimes, I think maybe I try to hard when trying to learn. I can't find anyone to help teach me - I have tried for months, and now have put that desire to rest. There just isn't anyone. I am a cancer survivor with continuing health issues - so I am not able to get out much.
I did purchase a video, which is definitely helpful, and it shows both ways of knitting - Continental and the "throw" method. Right now, I am trying the Continental method.
I would love to just make a simple dish cloth/towel - to be able to give away, so that part I am not going to give up on.
Any advice, suggestions, information would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks so much.
Charline
Finished my Tubey sweater. Almost finished with my Hoodie also.

I am currently working on an afghan, cardigan and a santa clause. I like having multiple projects - that way I will always have something to work on that suits my mood.
2 sweaters. One is a Tubey sweater the other is a cabled Hoodie, Inbetween are crocheted projects, sweaters for little ones.
Lots of things on my needles as I stop to think about it. There's a shrug of Rowan cotton braid, a Berroco green top down sweater that needs the collar finished, a caple in Prism Stuff, a lace scarf and a few washcloths in the works. And I was starting to do so well finishing one project before starting another. Otherwise, I find I never finish anything.!
It's so nice to know I'm not alone in being the multiple projects knitting nut! :D I'm making all of my end of the year gifts this year. So far, I've made a gorgeous shawl for my daughter-in-law, am in the midst of making three sweaters for each of the three older granddaughters (ages 8, 8 and 6) and a dress for the youngest, age 2; an afghan for the youngest son, age 19; #3 son, age 21, wants me to make eggrolls for him lol so I will; #1 son, age 34, wants me to make him a Notre Dame afghan, so I'll design that for him (I designed the Marine Corps flag for my oldest brother when #1 son was a toddler), and I've designed a 7 ft x 7 ft comforter for #2 son, age 25, and am making that. I haven't decided who will get the tube scarf I'm making, but probably one of the boys' girlfriends. lol
DocBev, I noticed you enjoy working with mohair. Have you tried Lion Brand's Homespun? This too frays easily, as you mentioned about the mohair, but it works up divinely! All three sweaters, the shawl and the scarf are being worked with Homespun. It has a similar texture although it's bulkier, but I think you might enjoy trying something with this too. :)
