Dusting !

"A house becomes a home when you can write "I love you" on the furniture."

I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect "in case someone came over" Finally I realized one day that no-one came over; they were all out living life and having fun!

NOW, when people visit, I don't have to explain the "condition" of my home.

They are more interested in hearing about the things I've been doing while I was away living life and having fun.

If you haven't figured this out yet, please heed this advice.

Life is short. Enjoy it!

Dust if you must....... but wouldn't it be better to paint a picture or write a letter, bake cookies or a cake and lick the spoon or plant a seed, ponder the difference between want and need?!

Dust if you must, but there's not much time . . .. . with rivers to swim and mountains to climb, music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain.

This day will not come around, again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind, old age will come and it's not kind. .. . ..

And when you go - and go you must - you, yourself will make more dust!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived ... and remember, a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

HOw ironic, I just spent the evening DUSTING  and Vacuuming. Alot of dust accumulates when you are cutting sheetrock etc etc.  And this weekend, it will start all over again, and more dust.

My husband used to tease me, we need company more often, so the house gets cleaned. I have always been a little fanatic if company was coming. To be honest, I don't like dust on things... but I sure don't seem to mind the clutter.  My office is the worst... it is always a mess.  When company comes, the door is shut, as it seems to also be the catch all room.  So dust I must!

I agree it does give motivation, trouble is I have trouble getting the motivation into motion.  I try to be reasonably clean but certainly not fanatical about it.

We had replacement windows put in a few years back and some of them have become almost like frosted glass so why bother, they don't look good anyway.  Must get those repaired or replaced. On the other hand it is a good excuse. LOL

You almost made me choke on my tea when I read: I believe it began right after I got my first computer.  I was okay with computer until I got on internet.  That did what the games couldn't.

You are right about waiting until everyone leaves. However, I must admit knowing company is coming motivates me and i surely can use lots of motivation. We planned to have lunch after church on Sunday. Our son who catches, cleans and cooks the fish was going to fry fish and then everyone brings a dish. it was to celebrate my husband's 74th birthday. The fish fryer and his sweet wife both came down with the flu. He called midday Saturday after my husband had cleaned the yard, but before I had washed all the woodwork and cleaned all the mirrors. We were able to get together tonight for Taco salad and I don't think anyone noticed the mirrors needed cleaning and the woodwork had not been wiped down. I know I didn't. We had a great gathering. We will fry those fish another time.

Cleaning and a place for everything and everything in its place is not as important as it use to be. I am glad, glad, glad. I believe it began right after I got my first computer. LOL

When that happens people almost choke to death from all the dust so everyone has learned to keep me quite. LOL

Like they say:

"Clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy!"

I use to be fanatical about my house, spent all my time cleaning around my kids and their friends, finally it hit me, If it didn't bother them, and they liked coming to our house so much, then why let it bother me?

The house was, and always is, clean, but not immaculate!!! A little dust adds to the ambiance!!!

Well, for crying out loud, Dee, when you get your feathers ruffled don't the dust just fly off them? LOL
