Hi All,
Lori (Floral Photography Group) asked us to go out and take pictures of gourds, since there might not be many flowers to photograph in the coming months. I take that back, I should say in some areas of the country. I live in sunny, southern California, and taking pictures of flowers in the fall and winter months is no problem.
Now, on the other hand, I thought looking for gourds would be a problem since I really didn’t even know where to start looking. Yes, I’m sure some of the grocery stores will start caring them but it seems to me you just can’t go into a grocery store and start taking picture -- they might take me away thinking I’m some kind of mad woman. So sad to say, I thought I would just pass on the gourds.
Well, I happened to come across a very large Pumpkin Patch this weekend. It’s fairly close to my house, but after 8 years of living here I didn’t even know it was there. It’s hidden away off the main street and I guess I’m not the only one that didn’t know it was there. I parked my car and went through the entrance stand, and right in front of me were hundreds of gourds, just sitting there, waiting for me to snap a shot. Funny how things workout some days.
So Lori, these gourds are for you!!!
Thanks for inspiring us.
