T ODAY I WORKED IN GOD’S GARDEN © 2007
By Sharlet ~ To You Mother
Dear Heart,
It’s no surprise to me that when I lose a close friend
or near-relative, I go out in the garden and
space-out. When Bunny then Florrie left for heaven, I just
went and worked in my garden for hours, and days,
planting flowers, and replanting whatever flowers I could
buy. And it turned out to be a special memorial for my
friends and family. It wasn’t even a conscious effort.
I truly believe, this prepared me for Mother’s
departure. My mourning has been longer, of course, but the
energy that is ultimately the most loveable time and
energy I can spend with God and with her is the time I
spend in God’s Garden. I embrace the joy, planting,
pruning, and loving the living beauty of flowers, vines,
roses, fruit trees, and the landscape. I’ve heard it
many times, that reading Psalms is comforting. But in
my psyche, I combine scripture with God’s presence, the
beauty of flowers that He gives life to.
If at some junction in your life nothing else works, remember
that God created it all, and He is as close as a tiny
garden, a little plant, a cup of sand from the ocean.
Take Psalms with you, as well. It is His Saving Grace
that gets us through the valleys.
Thinking of you with love.
