ATM Clutter Challenge

Ready to get organized, once and for all? You've come to the right place!

The Clutter Challenge has begun! The place to become eligible for prizes is right here: Just post an essay of 200 words or less describing your decluttering project as a new topic in the Group Forum. Be sure to title your new topic "Clutter Challenge Essay" along with a short description of your project: For example, "Clutter Challenge Essay: Bathroom project." To be eligible to win, you must also upload a photo of your project to the Group Photos area of the community as you begin your decluttering work. Use the same name you used to submit the essay and include the word "Before" when you upload.

Once your project is finished, return to the Group Photos section and upload the visual proof of your accomplishment, this time including the word "After" with your title. The most dramatic improvements in decluttering will win terrific prizes after our Challenge ends on February 28. Check out the official contest rules and prizes here.

Of course, we'd like to see pictures of your project as you go along, so feel free to upload additional photos to the group as you work. And remember to check out clutter expert Ciji Ware's weekly advice.

This community will be a valuable resource too, a place where you can ask questions and share decluttering strategies with others who have decided to take control and get rid of all that unnecessary "stuff" that sometimes threatens to overtake our lives.

Have fun, good luck, and here's to a clutter-free 2010!

My office was the “West Wing” of my home.  With many responsibilities: family friends, home, Nursing job, running a volunteer, non-profit Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Spiritual Goals, various recreational activities and hobbies, gave me little time, thus my problem of clutter in the office.  .  A complication arose in my family that has been heartbreaking: my husband did not want to stay at home with me, and Divorced me after 25 years of a happy, close marriage.  What a devastating, humiliating blow!  One of my husband’s complaints was the office.  So, in my despair, and attempting to do something constructive, I took on the Clutter Challenge.  The declutter process involved pulling items off shelves, out of drawers, off the floor, and everywhere else, to another room so the office was down to carpet and walls.  Next step was dusting and vacuuming the empty room.  Then, putting necessary items back neatly, in a logical organized way.  What was left was donated, sold, given away, or thrown away.  The uncluttered office has changed my life dramatically by: getting rid of a clutter problem, finding lost things, making my ability to care for responsibilities more efficient, helping to heal my broken heart.
