Your policy would allow all energy sources to be utilized, which is the only rational way to proceed. Once you eliminate the environmental objections there is no possible way to disagree with your approach. Unfortunately Obama has completely rejected the increased drilling and nuclear approach, and by limiting his options his solution will not work. Hopefully he'll change is mind and allow all energy sources to be used during this time of crisis

Thank you! He did give it a mention in his acceptance speech, but I know that will not be enough. I have given "21st Century Energy" of the Dept of Commerce an Email asking them to look at the breeder harder and get it into their talking points in their write-ups

Get all of this out to the masses.People in general, don't really think about what is happening or what can be done for the future, they just know that it is happening.Get this information out so that people have to think about it and maybe we can get the government to start doing something about it.This country is full of extremely intelligent people who can put together the right program, owned by the people, controlled by the people. The more people who know what this is, the more who can go to the government and say enough is enough.People really do need education when it comes to resources

Lord knows, I'm trying as hard as I can, but no one in a major newspaper market will print any of it. None of the candidates, nor incumbents, will respond to my essays to them, except to send me a form letter informing me of all the wonderful work their boss has done, and a request for funding to continue the good work. Obviously, a student is in charge of scanning key words and sending a form letter on that topic. If you know anyone who would even want to READ my stuff, tell them to go to AARP Community and search for geosummers. They should end up at my profile. My ideas are not copywrited. Share them with anyone you can. I will take free speaking engagements for any group in Ohio, western Pennsylvania, or northern West Virginia. This isn't about money for me, but I can't invest any of my own or my wife will bean me. Thank you for responding - I was getting a little low. I will email word documents to anyone who asks for them, and that email is listed in my profile

I read your posts with great interest. I note that you advocate a full dinner plate of energy as you put it, including wind. I would be interested in your views on the Pickens plan. I believe he does want gov subsidies for parts of his plan.

VERY big subsidies. Check for T. Boone comments under the groups "Issues & Elections", "Issues of Vital Concern", etc. He is getting 5 BILLION$ from the Texas taxpayers to run a high voltage transmission line out to his wind ranch, and there is a move to make the multibillion dollar TAX CREDIT PERMANENT. This last one has to be shut off for sure. Come to my profile, click "All My Grou;s" on the lower right side of my profile, and click on whichever group you would like to visit. You will be amazed at what's going on

I will be actively working for the re-election of Paul Broun in Georgia. He is a strong conservative but in his case the right answer is more important than support of a voting bloc. He is a medical doctor instead of a lawyer. I would like to see your energy plan in as concise a form as possible and I'll get it to him. I'm sure you are familiar with the Savannah River Site, which is just across the river from me. There has been a lot of money pumped into feasibility of a new reactor facility there and would receive massive support from the population in this area. The oil issue is tricky but it looks like the tide is turning enough to rally a majority from both parties to do something important. As bad as I hate it, it has taken $4 gas to get it there and I am leaving on a 2000+ mile road trip tomorrow. I am trying to research this angle a little more before I get too vocal about it. One side screams "obscene profits" while the other side says they make a smaller percentage of net profit than almost any other industry, which is true. BUT!!! I think it could be proven that the oil industry has been cleverly paying themselves enough and creating "expenses" so they would continue to NET in the single digits and I don't hear that part of the story coming out in Congressional hearings. How do you think the average salary in the oil industry compares to the industries that they compare their profit margtins to? We will shoot ourselves in the economic foot if we hurt them too bad but I would like to see the OC's backed into the ropes a little. I think our best hope is to rally voters behind a "new politics" banner, demanding results instead of painting black what the other side paints white. You probably call that "moderate". LOL I doubt if it will happen until the president has line item veto but like the gas issue, if it gets bad enough, people will vote! Don't know if I'll get around a computer while I am in Tulsa(the ex oil capital of the world) but I might

George...... Why is "moderate" descriptive or even accurate where you are concerned. I have preached what you describe for years. I lived in Holland for a time as a kid and this is how their education system is set up. My wife is an academic coach to middle schoolers that are not on track to graduate and we know you are on the right track but the political landscape IS going to have to change radically before it can be accomplished. My wife has done home visits where there's pit bulls chained to the porch just to find out why their child can't seem to get to school. He comes to school now and she has that family's respect. He may not become a nuclear power expert but he won't become the same statistic he was close to becoming. It's a great plan that you have outlined but please help me understand how we can get a current politician to run with it. Believe me, I am not a close minded radical but I don't see enough people in this country anymore with enough respect for elected officials at any level to follow them through the storm it would take to get this done. A common sense approach (your words) gets chewed up and spit out everyday of the week in Washington.
Give the president line item veto, mandate energy independence, stop this "living and breathing document" nonsense with the Supreme Court and make the illegals go back and apply for legal status with sponsorship of employers and our dollar will get back where it ought to be. I'm going to give it rest for today but I am interested in your thoughts

That's the problem with quick impressions. You are ALSO an intelligent and thoughtful individual. WE need a whole new breed of politician - like the founding fathers - who are willing to lay it on the line. All we have is our vote, and our ability to join a political movement that demands sensible results. I have been trying in vain to get anyone to join me in finding effective ground. Results have been mostly depressing

Hope your trip to Tulsa was productive and enjoyable. I don't want to "hurt" the oil companies. I hope they get RICH helping the US public become oil independent from them and foreign interests. I just want them to become rich by WORKING for it, not by having an "OILGOPOLY" stranglehold on our energy future
