Hi Gwen,
I've been pretty busy with meetings and I haven't had much time for the computer. How are you doing now?
I'd like to know a little bit more about you? Do you live in the city or in the country? Do you have neighbors? Who is the most help or company for you?
It must be very hard to live alone with a handicap. How do you cope?
It is very hard to ask for help if you need it. It is also hard to let someone know what you need. Do you keep a journal? (Besides this one on the computer). If I am feeling very angry I find it is helpful to explore in writing to myself just exactly what I am angry about. Then to figure out just exactly what is it that I need? Sometimes getting it focussed can help you figure out a solution.
It's sort of like saying, "I am really mad because..." instead of just generally saying "I am really mad."
I have attended workshops where we learned to communicate better by telling a person, "When you do .... (whatever it is that bugs you), I feel like... " To be more specific it might go like this: I feel very lonely when you never call or write. I don't know if that can help you. I hope so.
I hope I'll hear from you, Gwen.
Wishing you a good summer.
Ellie
