Yeah, that's why I asked..heard very scary stories & don't want to be duped. Will research thoroughly before making any moves, but appreciate all the info & will check out some things you mentioned.
Thanks. Will let you know how it goes.

Sue I will keep you posted. The biggest story is that you do not get the help you needed. I do not know if it is so. the other thing is you have to be commited. Totally Commited. Every min you have has to be on the computor, certain times for test, books are online, varies things like that. I need books in front of me.
I wish you best of luck. Keep me posted. It is a great course.

Need to get out of jail! (Am corrections officer & the place is run horribly.) Am SERIOUSLY considering on-line medical insurance billing/coding course, wonder if you're doing it on-line & what advice you might have for me.
Heard from one place--Allied--which costs $1500 & includes a "free" (yeah, right) laptop.
Thanks. Sue

Sue I was going to do it on line, I heard horror stories, So i went to National School of Technology who has now gone to Everest Institute. 1 bit of edvise do not do one of these fly by night schools or ades because there is a lot to Billing and Coding. It is not a little bit look it over and take a test. I love it. 8:30 to 12:30 ever day, Alot of homework. I have 24 books and a roll around small suite case that everyone gets to bring books.

You learn about the whole body, all fases. Essentials of Human Dieases and Conditions, Medical Language, Typing, Pharmacology, What ever it has to do with Medicine, Health Insurance today, Ethics of Medicine, Office Programs such as Medi-Soft and Claim Gear. I turned 50 taking this cl****the oldest student in my cl****and whole school, It has been an experience in its self and the best part about it is that I am doing it, I have 1 module left, I am on the honor roll, I can study good, take test, I am so proud of myself. It is my time, in the right place at the right time, and it is fantastic. I am not doing it at home yet, they recammend that you work for a year at least to get the in's and out's of everything. Beleive me it is totally different then what I thought it was. They have a code for everything. Everything !!!!!!! They do not miss one thing. The course I am taking is $14,000 I get pell grants and help. Plus I go through Vocational Rehab because I am on Disability. There are different ways that you can get help. They teach you The administrative part, Scheduling appointments, Test, Billing, Coding, collection. Here are a few sites you can look at. (AAPC.com $300, CMBS.com. $300 These two you wait at least a year) If you feel comformable then you take it sooner. If you do not p****the first time you have to wait 3 months a few of them are a year.(ncicsinc.com is $90 This one you take ASAP)These are your tickets.
You graduate with a diploma, and to add to that, There are four certification that you have to look at getting. To make better money. I will be getting the web sites on other certification, There is one that is just hospital, billing, collection. So there is different ways you can go with it. Like I said I love it. When you are on line your books are downloaded this is what I was told, I personally could not do that. I have to have everything in front of me.
Good luck any question let me know.
