About Me

Currently semi-retired and would like to work part time, maybe 3 days a week. Would love to retire in about 2 years to Italy, South America or Eastern EU and run a Budget B&B (or two or three) catering to retirees from around the globe and first time international travellers. The plan is to charge $50 per night with a min. of a one week stay. I am searching for properties now. I also act as a Trip Coach, planning trips for, and travelling with, small groups of first time internatioanal travellers, usually budget travelers

Interests:
Love the outdoors. Hiking, camping, swiming, gardening... Love to cook and bake! Love to 'budget' travel! Italy, Greece, Spain anyone?! I also sponsor two girls through World Vison, one in Sierra Leone and one in Kenya.

#9 above is cruel. Some of us can't afford Ford Fusions or any other more efficient vehicle! We have to keep our older cars going & even that's hard at times. We're not rich, middle or poor. Some of us aren't in a class now days, we're past poor but way below middle! We don't even know what that is & you want to punish us with substantial taxes! NO thank you, I pray that doesn't happen. If it does, I'll have to walk or find a family member or neighbor with an "efficient" vehicle to transport me!.....Future Walker

I can't afford a Ford Fusion right now either, but my 13 year old car does get good gas mileage.
This kind of tax would spur automakers to develop and produce a lot more vehicles in the high efficiency range and ultimately drive costs down and make cars more affordable. Think a $5K Tata or Spit. Think electric car or bio fuel. If Europe, India, China can build cars that are ---MUCH---more efficienct and affordable, why don't we?
Because our entire system is built around buying bigger, buying more and costing more. Same old same old....Build what we have always built, fall farther behind the rest of the world. Buy what we have always bought, they just get more expensive and never gain oil independence from the middle east.
Reversing that whole process is not going to be easy, but it will create new jobs, companies and vehicles that use half the fuel we use today.
I am sorry you think it is cruel. I think it is one of the easiest ways to force a market shift and in the process, create thousands and thousands of new jobs
