I read today (Aug 11, 2009) that the AARP does not necessarily support the Obama health care reform measures.  This seems to be a big change in policy from 30-60 days back.  I am hoping it is because the AARP is "listening" to the members they are "supposed" to represent.  I am DEEPLY concerned about the relationship between the AARP and the thug group SEIU (for proof of the relationship go to AARP.com and click on Divided We Fail in the top right corner; from the DividedWeFail.org page click on About Us.  This has me thinking that the AARP is way more liberal than I ever thought.  Maybe the AARP can contract with Tony Soprano's gang to push through some more ridiculous legislation that will futher damage members.

I haven't paid much attention to the political stances of the AARP or any other organizations until the current crisis.  One has to think about why it is so important to rush something as important as national health care.  Are we trying to give Ted Kennedy a happy send off to the wild blue by taking one giant leap forward to his lifetime wish for socialized medicine?

Don't get me wrong - I am 55 and was forced to drop my coverage when it hit $550/month.  I would love to have free or subsidized health care - BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF MY KIDS AND FUTURE GENERATIONS.  Our government is not about planning for the future but rather what can be done to make constituants happy today so lawmakers can keep their birthrights - or so as they consider their public service jobs.  Terms limits might assist in the solution to the government problems but it may also accelerate the corruption.

My final word on healthcare (for today).  A Congressman from northern Louisiana has or is supposed to introduce a bill asking or requiring Congress to waive their plush health care program (Yes, if you don't know, Congress has their own system that will not change by any current reform proposals) for the Obama version.  IF Congress were to agree to be on the same system as what they want to jam down our throats my tune would change.  Funny how Congress has their own retirement system that is safe and much more beneficial than OUR social security.  What makes these people think they are so special?  They REPRESENT US - they are not supposed to do our thinking.

I'm off to look for work and to hopefully remain healthy....
