This quilt was started when my daughter was maybe two years old. She is in the white dress and she will be twenty one in September. The picture was of her at her wedding reception. The other young lady in the blue is my other daughter and I am on the right. It took me years to finish it since I owned a business for years and never had time to quilt until I retired myself 5 years ago. This was the easiest picture for me to find, but I do have others that I have finished. Funny that you also did a purple trip around the world. I had lost the pattern for this and had parts of it sewn together. I finally got the pattern 15 years later from the Family Circle Website chat room. Would you believe someone actually had it all those years later. I only knew it was called Quilt in a Weekend. Two people sent the pattern to me. Isn't the internet amazing! Is you husband a photographer? Yes I also love to see how the same pattern but different fabric can make them all different. Let's come up with a block and swap them then put them into a quilt and we can see exactly how that concept works!
Beautiful quilt! I've made only one full quilt...and that was "Trip Around the World", and it's in purples also! I'll have to take a picture of it (I did it for my husband), and upload it...would be interesting to see different people's choices of cloth and how it affects the same pattern, wouldn't it? Fun!
I did mine for my DH, and he loves purple...the backing is a tiny fireworks' print. Since he shoots them professionally, this was appropriate for him. He loves it.
