I am an employee of AARP. I work in the National Office and coordinate AARP's annual Day of Service. I have volunteered for much of my life with a variety of organizations, including a landlord/tenant hotline, a county jail, two different opera companies, a hospital, a suicide prevention hotline, and a homeless shelter/food kitchen.
For the last 10 years (and currently) I have been a volunteer for the Maryland branch of Greyhound Pets of America (GPA), a national group that works with racetracks to find homes for greyhound racers who are no longer making money and are not wanted by their owners. I am a member of the GPA/MD Board and am also an adoption rep. I live in a very small house with three greyhounds (Pasha, Misha, and Yuri) and a very tolerant husband. I hope someday to have the time to foster "spooks," ex-racers who are very frightened of humans and require a lot of patience and attention to get them ready to be adopted.
Interests:
I am very interested in the Civil War, particularly now that I live in the area of the country where many of the battles were fought. I have been to a number of the battlefields and my favorite is Gettysburg, which is also where I'd like to retire if I ever can (retire).
