About Me

I was born in Grand Island New York, raised on the beach in Florida, and educated in Louisiana and Ohio. I am the rugged outdoors type of man. My mom tells me that I am a Man's Man, which she says means that I am the kind of man that men can admire - not fall in love with

Interests:
I enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, boating, sailing, skiing (both kinds) and everything that can be done outside in the sunshine,

While listening to a NPR report about billionaire Carlos Slim by Jason Beaubien last October, I could not help to think about the comment made by NPR correspondent Denise Dresser in regard to the emergence of the new hybrid oligarchist capitalism, or Mexico’s “State run Capitalism”.  Slim just about owns Mexico. More important was her statement that too many businessmen in America see Carlos Slim as a model; rather than as symptom of everything wrong with Mexico’s economic structure.

I suggest the same thing is happening to working class Americans here in the United States. I refer to the “Plantation Capitalism” model developed by the successors of the Sam Walton Empire which stifles social mobility, traps people in poverty and is a huge drag on our economic growth. Sam’s heirs took decent jobs with benefits away from many Americans so they could contract them out to the Chinese for fifteen cents per hour, and then, offered those same Americans a job working at WalMart that pays minimum wage with no benefits.

This elitist business model widened the gap between the “Haves” and the “Have Nots”, and at the same time obliterated the middle class. The real problem with the direction our country is headed is that Americans are too smart, too angry and too well-armed to stand by while a few wealthy gray-haired white men drive their families to the poor house. It has all the makings of a revolution. Any working class American asked today if they would like to have state run healthcare, a free education and a guaranteed pension would easily say yes.

I watched Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on the BBC some months ago, and listened to him reference Adam Smith’s The Theory of Moral Sentiments and An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations – I experienced admiration like I never had. He said, "That that Tibet was part of China and would never be allowed to break away from China, that people are more than a disposable nautral resource, and he was lucky that Fate put him in a position to guide China into the future." I thought to myself, finally, a politician that tells the truth from the heart, a leader that cares about the people and a man with sincere humility.

Well, that is how I felt before Obama was elected, now I believe that America has its own politician worthy of protecting the "Have Nots" from the "Haves." He got elected just in time to stop the Revolution, he got elected just in time to stop the greedy and powerful from using Americans as a disposable natural resource, and he got elected just in time to save our country. None of this is going to be popular with the Uber-rich or Republicans.

I think the plan is to continue voting the Grand Old Party out of office, thereby, taking away the power of the Plantation Capitalists, and protecting the lifestyle of Americans. The concept of "Global Economy" was a "Construct" developed by Corporate America to convince American Workers that they were no better then workers in India, China, Central America, and any other backward third world country. For the majority (Yes the voters have spoken) of Red, White & Blue Americans there is only one economy - The American Economy. If our economy fails, the the economies of every other country in the world fails. If we get our people educated, keep them healthy, and make sure they can age with dignity, then our ecomomy will do well, and as a result of that every other economy in the world will do well, too. There is no global economy, only an American Economy that the rest of the world depends on.
