TODAY WAS AN EXTREMELY HOT DAY.BUT AS I SIT BACK AND REALIZE WHAT THE DAY HELD FOR ME, I CAN BE MOST GRATEFUL.
FOR SUPPER I FIXED A SALAD WITH FRESH VEGGIES FROM THE GARDEN,,I ALSO FIXED SOME WILTED LETTUCE,FRESH FROM THE GARDEN, AND GREEN BEANS WHICH WE HAD FROZEN FROM LAST YEARS GARDEN....
AFTER SUPPER I MADE 6 PINTS OF FRESH STRAWBEERRY FREEZER JAM..AND PLAN TO PREPARE MORE TOMORROW.
WE CAN TRUELY CONSIDER OURSELVES BLESSED WHEN GOD SO ABUNDANTLY AND FREELY GIVES US
OUR OWN FRUITS OF OUR OWN LABOR ( AND VEGGIES :) )
YES, I KNOW THE SAME ITEMS CAN BE PURCHASED AT ANY FOOD STORE BUT HOW MUCH MORE IT IS APPRECIATED WHEN WE HAVE DONE FOR OURSELVES.
I AM MORE THAT GRATEFUL FOR WHAT WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH..MAY ALL WHO READ THIS HAVE AN ENJOYABLE WEEKEND.BE SAFE AND GO IN GODS PEACE!
Thank you for your beautiful images and mouth watery recipe. I remember when I was a kid we had a small garden in the back of the house. In the morning, I could go to the garden to get a tomatoe and make a bacon, tomatoe and lettuce sandwich for breakfast. Or, just tomatoe with mayo on a toast or tomatoe, and whatever else was leftover from dinner. OOooh! the sights, sounds and smells of those summer days so long ago.
I am so grateful for the memory spark. Life is always good.
BARBARA,
THANKS FOR THE REPLY TO MY JOURNAL...I LOVE THE GARDEN ALSO.AND WE ALSO PLANTED THE STRIPER TOMATO,I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE...I LOVE COLD TOMATOE AND CHEESE SANDWICHES WITH MAYO,,MAKES MY MOUTH WATER JUST SAYING IT!!! :) KEEP IN TOUCH! AND,YES, LIFE IS GOOOOOOOD!
I certainly agree! This year I built a little 4x8 garden in my back yard and I have 4 tomato plants and two bell pepper plants.....and I'm having the most fun tending to them and watching them grow! I absolutely love tomatoes and I will not be the least bit annoyed if I'm swimming in them when they mature! I planted two beefsteak, one yellow tomato and an heirloom called Mr. Striper (or something along that line!) The sample photo shows a plump red tomato with yellow slashes on it. I have visions of me harvesting a boatload of tomatoes and sharing them with friends and freezing them for winter soups and sauces. If it doesn't happen?.....ah well, I'm loving the dream of it right now. Life is good.
