About Me

A 63-year-old Denver native, I've been an elementary school teacher for the past 20 years - at the same school! I taught third, fourth, and now sixth grade. Retired this past June. Loving retirement! I am owner of a small photography business, DB Photography. Contact me if you need a professional photographer! A product of the Denver Public Schools, the University of Denver and the University of Colorado, both Boulder and Denver campuses, I have degrees in Journalism and Elementary Education. I'm divorced and have two sons, one who is 39 soon and the other who just graduated from the University of Denver and works at Inverness. He's 23. My greatest passion - besides teaching - is photography. I've been a photographer since I was 13 and have a free-lance photo business, db Photography, which I will pursue full time after I retire from teaching next year. My other passion is hiking the Colorado Rockies. When I'm "gettin' high" in the mountains, I am at peace with myself and my maker. I'm a strong believer in the Powerful Intentions of The Secret and vision a wonderful retirement and life after teaching.

Interests:
Photography Hiking Denver Sports: Avalanche, Broncos, Rockies

Yes, I've turned 63. . .

When we baby-boomers were young, you know, around 18 - 20, we thought people in their 60's were. . . well. . . old!

But now that we're in our sixties, we know we are not old.  Ok, older, but not old!  My mom is 85 - that's old!

Aging is an interesting proposition.  Getting "older" is wearing well on me, though my body continues to say,"take care of me or you won't be very active or happy when you really get old!"

Since I am passionate about hiking the mountains of Colorado, photographing the beauty I find there, I'll need to listen to my body, follow its advice, do my daily exercise, eat much better than I did in my 20's, and hope for the best.

Now for the mental part:  don't panic when I misplace objects, forget people's names, and generally wonder why my "steel-trap" mind seems to be made of rubber bands at times.

What is exciting about retirement is the opportunity - the choice - to do exactly what I want to do, whatever that may be. To lose track of the day/date - oops, is that the first sign of becoming old or just the fact that I'm not "on the clock" anymore?  To pursue my hobbies, my passions, to volunteer where and when I want to. . . yes, I think this could become the best time of my life.

Let me know what you're doing at 62 or 63 or older.

I'd like to hear from you!
