David Damian Figueroa is currently the Associate State Director of the Los Angeles Region for AARP California, where he oversees implementation of social campaigns, community alliances, volunteer management, membership development, and member value.
Prior to his position at AARP, David Damian served as Director of Public Relations & Creative Marketing at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF). During his tenure at MALDEF, he publicized many of MALDEF's landmark lawsuits.
Early in his career, Mr. Figueroa worked for nearly a decade in the Latin music industry. His clients included José José, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Boyz II Men, Arista Latin, MCA Polygram, BMI Latin, and Motown Latino.
An active community member and regularly offers pro bono consulting services to non-profit organizations, including Familia Unida Living with MS, the Dolores Huerta Foundation, the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation, and United Farm Workers of America. He is a former board member of Clinica Msr. Oscar A. Romero, Familia Unida Living with M.S., and the Getty House Foundation. He is also a former Advisory Board Member for the PBS flagship television station KCET.
David Damian is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Founder's Award from Familia Unida Living with M.S., the 2008 President's Volunteer Service Award, and the Culture, Commerce & Community Award from the Pasadena Playhouse District Association.
