It's A Great Life - IF you don't weaken

I'm 60 years old, was just fired (the first time in my life!) was denied worker's compensation, and have no prospects.  Think Obama's plan will save me?  I still have my health, and was an asset to that company and would be again if given a chance anywhere else - but there's no work out there.   I had been laid off from my previous better paying position due to the construction downturn, and had to accept this last job just to eke out something.  New management came in, and in this economic situation I was one of the casualties - after working so hard for 2 years to go from part-time to full-time to finally being eligible for medical benefits.  I don't have a degree, just lots and lots of work experience, and a willingness to tackle anything.

I don't really need much to survive on, but I do still owe some on my small home, and so now I lay awake nights knowing that I can maybe make two more house payments, and then I'm done.  My self-confidence is really suffering, as I've applied everywhere I can think of, with absolutely no response.

I need work now, if anyone out there can find it in their heart to help me.  In return you would be getting a grateful, hardworking, on time and loyal employee.  I have lots of good years left to give to it!

Good Morning,
I completely understand where you are coming from. The company that I worked for was sold off shore and we were all laid off. This happened 1 1/2 years ago and I am still looking for employment. All my life I have been in the mortgage industry and have extensive knowledge, and can not find employment. The answers I get are you are over qualified for the position. Who cares, I just need the job. I am a widow and am raising my granddaughter and am having a really rough time. I have been told even by the state to change my line of work, jee I have tried that and they won't hire me because I have not worked in that field, so what are you to do?

Hey Crash,
Have you looked into a reverse mortgage? You say you only owe a little on your home. It would give you an income and you wouldn't have to worry about losing your home. There are good ones and bad ones . . . so be sure to read the fine print first.

I did get a job at 62. I did keep trying over and over and over. I was told I am over qualified 5 times. Hang in there and keep trying.
Have a Great Day!
