Getting the most out of your visit to AARP.org

We know that the adventure of using a new web site can be wonderful or frustrating, especially the first couple of times that you use it. We've set up forums for you to ask questions about specific features of the site. This journal is all about your experiences on the site, the good, the bad, the funny, and the frustrating...

Please feel free to share your experience and tips in using this site with us here. We'll update this journal frequently with announcements and other content of interest to our members. But this journal is for you to help others (and us) understand how you are using the site and what you'd like to be able to do.

Thanks for visiting, we hope to hear from you!

I like many things about the new website. It would be helpful to those who are in a hurry or those who have dial-up connections if there were an option in personal preferences to hide or display photos.

Some people love the photos, as it contributes to their visual experience. Others find them distracting, and they slow down dial-up connections.

Is the old Thread 11726.8 a label? Why was that system not used here?

Think of how you do a search in google, for example: you use a term you know you want to look up. The tags will allow others to search for something" named ", or "tagged" .

The website is very well done, and visiting it often will make it easier to use.

Thanks for the comment OF. The development team is working on the help section and FAQs to help all of us. We even hear that there are video help guides on the way as well. As a beta, the comments and requirements of our early users will help guide the changes we make to the site.

Any good book needs a table of contents: any good web site needs a site map. This seem very elementary and easily included in the first release. It also would have very helpful lacking a help section.

Any new offering should have a section on how to use the new offering; for example, a tutorial, help, or FAQ section. I realize "Getting the Most..." is a
start in this direction, but without a site map or on site help, it is very frustrating and wasteful of my time which is unpaid for.

Please remember that these two basic (IMO)requirements in any web site are not only necessary for new members but also for occasional users and even for regular users who may have need for to refresh their memory.

Can you explain how "tags" are used?
