Getting Started Help Topic

Are you new to AARP.org’s Online Community?  Are you having trouble registering so you can join?  We’re here to help you through this process.

At the top of every page on www.aarp.org you will find a Log In or Sign Up button that looks like this

Click on the Red Sign Up Button and a new form will open up

Please complete each field with your information.  If you are not sure what one of the field are or need additional information click on the ? mark next to the box to learn more.

There are two words that are required in the security field – if you cannot read them clearly you can click on the top blue button to the left to have these words reset.

You must click on the second box to accept the site’s terms of service in order to complete the registration process.

If you are successful with this registration process you will then be taken to a new page like this one:

You can then choose to go back to aarp.org and explore the site or to start building your profile.

If you receive an error on this page – let’s look at some of the reasons this may have occurred.

You will note that the error page will have a list of the errors at the top and the field titles will also change to RED.  There are a few fields that require specific information such as the words that are displayed in the box – there has to be a space in between the two words.  The zip code field will only accept 5 digits, if you have more than five numbers or are located outside of the U.S. please send an email to community@aarp.org for assistance.

If you have re-entered this information and are still receiving an error message, please call our help area at 1-866-839-0463 between 9:00 a.m and 7:00 p.m. ET.

This new Format STINKS. I dont know why they change it. Oh maybe they hired some new EXPENSIVE Tecky who had to show off that he/she can do things the STUPID way.
Sometimes these HIGH PAID people do AMAZINGLY STUPID things, which reminds me of the Business Manager our Company Hired and All he did was to Change our Pay Day from every other FRIDAY to the 1st and 15th of the Month. I thought he did that for some kind of ACCOUNTING reason. One Day I asked him and He said No that was not the Reason. But then he could not tell me why he did it. How STUPID these YEPPIES can be.

Dear copper,
If you are searching for the old message boards, please go here:
https://access.aarp.org/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=rp-fhl&nav=messages&msg=7648.1.The access is from the aARP Magazine.
We appreciate your suggestion for "labeling" the boards, however, they are expected to be phased out in the future.
