Building Your Profile Help Topic
When you first register for AARP.org site, you will receive a Congratulations message on your screen. You can then click on the red Button that says – Start Building My Profile:

If you click on this link it will take you to the following page where you can fill in your personal information. If you are not sure what you want to add here – do not be concerned you can edit this information at any time in the future. This is not required information so you do not have to fill in every field, just the ones that interest you.

Once you have completed the first page click on the red Save and Continue button.
You will then be taken to the next page – Tell us more about yourself. This is where you can upload a photo for your profile. Again, if you are not ready to choose this option you can add a photo a later time.
About Me: The first section will be highlighted on your Profile page – you may wish to include a paragraph that is a good description of yourself that others may find interesting. Again all of this information can be edited at a later time. If you are not sure what you would like to write, we will explain how to return to this later.

Once you have completed filling this out, click on Save and Finish. This will bring you to your profile page:

This page shows your personal profile – if you do not have a picture loaded then you will see a blue silhouette placeholder as shown in the example above. You can add a profile photo at any time by looking under the profile picture and selecting the Edit button. This will bring up the “Edit My Profile” page.

This page contains all of the information you gave during the registration process. It also gives you the option to choose your privacy settings with the options to Show or Hide. You can update this information any time as long as you are logged into www.AARP.org. Just remember to hit the SAVE button at the bottom of the page if you have made any changes.
You can also make changes to your profile preferences under the Settings button beneath the profile picture. If you click on this button, the following page will appear:

This area also allows you to hide your profile from the Search function on www.AARP.org and sign up for FREE eNewsletters. If you scroll down further you will see the Notifications section:

This area will allow you to have notifications sent to the email address you used during registration, or sent to you through your profile on www.AARP.org or both. We recommend having both options selected for all items until you get familiar with the site and then making changes to your preferences at a later time. Again – you must remember to click on the Save Changes button before proceeding. When you click on the Save Changes button the page will refresh and you will see red text at the top of this page that says Your changes have been saved.
The other area under your profile that you can update is the About Me section. You can edit this by clicking on the About Me tab.

You can edit the About Me area by clicking on the Edit About Me button and making the changes you wish. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page when you are finished.
