ADT discount

I want to let everyone know to be careful about the purported ADT discount.

Three years ago,   I signed up with a dealer who qouted one price and upped it after the equipment was installed.  I was going to make them take it out, but I would have had a hole in my wall that they wouldn't fix.  Even though I had asked about a senior discount I was told none was offered.  Shortly after, I received the AARP notice about ADT discount for members, but I wasn't eligible since I had signed a contract.

Now, my contract is up, but ADT will not provide a discount because it is ONLY OFFERED TO AARP MEMBERS WHO GET THE SERVICES DIRECT FROM ADT AND NOT A DEALER..  In order to get a discount I need to purchase new equipment and start over with ADT.  So now I am shopping around other companies for the best service and equipment.

I thought I had gone about this with "some smarts" because I called around to get quotes on pricing after I talked to the dealer, but before I had agreed to get the equipment instaled.,  When I  originally called ADT about pricing, they didn't give me another option, and now I feel so ................................. taken advantage of,.  What do you do when you are on a fixed income?

You shpould be getting a discount on your homeowners insurance. Call them to let them know you have an active alarm service.
Not all compaies do this but many will.
Hope this helps!
