School:
I attended the VA School of X-ray technogology in Minneapolis, MN after high school. At the age of 40, I returned to school at the Indiana University School of Medicine's Radiation Therapy Program for a year. Currently, I am enrolled as a student at Empire State College taking on-line courses to earn a my bachelor's degree in general studies with a focus on Advocating for the Elderly.
Work:
I just celebrated by sixth anniversary with AARP Indiana where I work as the Senior Operations Administrator. In a former life, I worked for 29 years in the field of health care as both a registered X-ray tech and a radiation therapist. In 1995 I decided it was time for a change, but I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up. So I landed in the nonprofit sector quite by accident.
Hometown(s):
I'm an Iowa girl from a tiny town called Moville which is 15 miles from Sioux City. I have lived in three of the four "I" states including Iowa (18 years), Illinois (18 years), and Indiana (18 years so far).

While I love working for AARP, my outside interests include flower gardening, photography, hiking, and reading. My husband, Don, and I also enjoy cooking together and entertaining people in our home. Don and I have been married for almost 13 years -- my second marriage and his first. I have two grown sons, two daughters-in-law, and 2 grandsons. Cory is 17 and Seth is 14.
