I've been spending a lot of time helping people draft their resumes, and conducting practice interview session. A common theme that I'm seeing, is that the majority of job seekers do not have a viable network of business associates, peers, senior business leaders etc. The new thought that has been advance in networking is a play on the old theme, "it's who you know", is now delivered as it's "who knows you".
The other thing that I'm seeing are job seekers who don't do their homework (reseach prospective opportunities). This involves getting beyond the headlines of a job posting and searching that hidden piece of information that might open doors.
The other thing is I running across people who are afraid to try something new. New stuff, is both challenging and exciting, and can really get your juices flowing.
